Dual-Region Computed Tomography Radiomics-Based Machine Learning Predicts Subcarinal Lymph Node Metastasis in Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: The CT radiomics showed the potential for accurately predicting SLNM in NSCLC patients. The ML model with dual-region radiomic features has better performance than the logistic regression or single-region models.PMID:38520581 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15197-w (Source: Ann Oncol)

Recurrent Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: A 10-Point Score to Predict Post-Recurrence Survival and Guide Treatment of Recurrence
CONCLUSIONS: The PRS score demonstrated strong discriminatory ability to predict PRS among patients who had developed recurrence following initial resection of ICC. The PRS score may be a useful tool to guide treatment among patients with recurrent ICC.PMID:38520582 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15210-2 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Sarcoma Size and Limb Dimensions Predict Complications, Recurrence, and Death in Patients with Soft Tissue Sarcoma in the Thigh: A Multidimensional Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Thigh width outperformed BMI in association with postoperative complications. This may create an opportunity for intervention, where weight loss can play a role during the neoadjuvant therapy period to potentially reduce complications. Sarcoma-to-thigh width and thickness ratios, particularly the latter, hold substantial predictive value in terms of STS recurrence. Moreover, thigh thickness is an independent predictor of survival.PMID:38520583 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15183-2 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Use of the spider limb positioner for fibular free flap reconstruction of head and neck bony defects
CONCLUSION: We describe a novel approach to fibular free flap harvest utilizing the Spider Limb Positioner, which affords optimal ergonomics, visibility, and patient repositioning. There were no nerve injuries or complications related to positioning in our series.PMID:38520757 | DOI:10.1016/j.oraloncology.2024.106757 (Source: Ann Oncol)

A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of the Role of Preoperative MRI in In-breast Tumor Recurrence After Breast-Conserving Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Although some evidence supports the hypothesis that identification of additional tumors in the breast using pMRI results in lower rates of IBTR after BCS, the main meta-analysis in this study did not confirm this hypothesis.PMID:38520578 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14746-z (Source: Ann Oncol)

Clinicopathological Predictors of Positive Resection Margins in Breast-Conserving Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with pure IBC, the relative risk of a positive margin with IBC + DCIS is approximately ninefold, significantly higher than prior estimates. This margin-level methodology is believed to represent the impact of DCIS more accurately on margin positivity in IBC.PMID:38520579 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15153-8 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Predicting the Risk of Morbidity by GLIM-Based Nutritional Assessment and Body Composition Analysis in Oncologic Abdominal Surgery in the Context of Enhanced Recovery Programs : The PHase Angle Value in Abdominal Surgery (PHAVAS) Study
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with preoperative malnutrition were significantly more likely to develop postoperative morbidity. Moreover, a decrease in PA on POD1 was independently associated with a 13% increase in the absolute risk of complications. Whether proactive interventions may reduce the downward shift of PA and the complication rate need further investigation.PMID:38520580 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15143-w (Source: Ann Oncol)
