The paternal role in pregnancy loss
AbstractIn this comprehensive review, the intricate relationship between paternal factors and pregnancy loss is examined. While pregnancy loss has historically been predominantly attributed to maternal factors, recent research underscores the significant contribution of the male partner. The review delves into various aspects of paternal influence, including paternal age, health, chromosome abnormalities, Y chromosome deletions, and sperm DNA fragmentation. Notably, advanced paternal age is found to be associated with an increased risk of recurrent pregnancy loss, shedding light on the importance of understanding the impac...

The association between ambient temperature and semen quality in a Northern Peninsular Province, China
Discussion and conclusionExposure to non-optimal temperature is associated with decreased semen quality in North China, with the epididymal storage and sperm motility development periods more sensitive to cold exposure than heat. Older males and those with higher educations may need particular awareness. (Source: Andrology)

3 ‐Hydroxy‐3‐methylglutaryl‐CoA synthase 2 facilitates erectile dysfunction via inhibiting autophagy by enhancing the mammalian target of rapamycin pathway in type 1 diabetic mellitus rats
Discussion and conclusionHMGCS2 upregulation in T1DM rats inhibited autophagy and eNOS activity by activating the mTOR pathway and led to a decrease in the erectile function. (Source: Andrology)

Cost ‐effectiveness of testosterone treatment utilising individual patient data from randomised controlled trials in men with low testosterone levels
Conclusions and future researchOur data suggest that testosterone is cost-effective in men<75 years when Beck depression index-derived quality-adjusted life years data are considered; cost-effectiveness in men>75 years is dependent on cardiovascular safety. However, more robust and longer-term cost-utility data are needed to verify our conclusion. (Source: Andrology)

Heme ‐induced corpus cavernosum relaxation and its implications for priapism in sickle cell disease: a mechanistic insight
Discussion and conclusionThe HO –CO–sGC–cGMP pathway appears to play a crucial role in promoting CC relaxation. Our study provides novel insight into the role of group heme in CC relaxation and its potential contribution to priapism in SCD. Heme may serve as a pharmacological target for new therapies to prevent priapism. (Source: Andrology)

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation via the hippocampal brain ‐derived neurotrophic factor–tyrosine kinase receptor B pathway to affect sexual behavior and neuroplasticity in rapid ejaculation rats
ConclusionRTMS upregulates BDNF, SYN, and PSD95 expression through activation of the BDNF –TrkB pathway and increases brain 5-hydroxytryptamine thereby regulating neuroplasticity and improving ejaculation. (Source: Andrology)

Trends in the use of testicular prostheses in Germany: a total population analysis from 2006 –2021
ConclusionThis study shows that implantation of testicular prostheses is steadily increasing. Explantation rates are low. Besides testicular cancer transgender surgeries were the main driver for increasing case numbers in recent years. (Source: Andrology)

MiRNA ‐100 ameliorates diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction by modulating autophagy, anti‐inflammatory, and antifibrotic effects
ConclusionMiR-100 can improve the erectile function by inhibiting mTOR and thus inducing autophagy, improving the endothelial function through the eNOS/NO/cGMP axis, and exerting antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects, which may provide new ideas and directions for the treatment of DMED. Impact of sexual function domains on sexual satisfaction and quality of life: Importance across the age spectrum
ConclusionsThe erectile function was independently associated with sexual satisfaction and quality of life across all age strata and predictive of both sexual satisfaction and global HRQoL. Low overall rates of sexual satisfaction across cohorts highlight the critical importance of evaluation and treatment of sexual health, regardless of age. (Source: Andrology)

Comparative analysis of surgical modalities for the gynecomastia treatment: efficiency and aesthetic outcomes
AbstractThis retrospective study rigorously compares the clinical efficacy of three surgical methodologies for treating gynecomastia while providing guidance for future surgical modality selection. We analyzed records of 77 gynecomastia patients treated between January 2015 and October 2022. Patients were categorized into three groups: Group A (subcutaneous gland resection via areola incision), Group B (liposuction combined with single-hole endoscopic gland resection), and Group C (liposuction combined with three-hole endoscopic gland resection). Parameters assessed included patient demographics, intraoperative bleeding, s...

New insights into sperm physiology regulation: Enlightenment from G ‐protein‐coupled receptors
ConclusionThe present review provides a comprehensive overview of studies describing G-protein-coupled receptors and their potential action in sperm function. We also present a critical discussion of these issues, and a possible framework for future investigations on the diverse ligands, biological functions and cell signalling of G-protein-coupled receptors in spermatozoa. Here, the G-protein-coupled receptors and their related G proteins that specifically were identified in spermatozoa were summarised, and provided references valuable for further illumination, despite the evidence that is not overwhelming in most cases.
