Corneal biomechanical properties to predict prognosis of abnormal tomographic corneas: a prospective cohort study
Refractive surgery is a commonly performed surgical procedure in ophthalmology. Candidates for refractive surgery are required to undergo a preoperative ocular examination to reduce the risk of intraoperative and postoperative complications. Corneal tomography is commonly used to screen for abnormal corneal thickness and elevation to avoid postoperative ectasia.1,2 However, some patients have mild or borderline abnormal corneal tomography (ACT) that does not meet the diagnostic criteria for corneal ectasia. Topical antiseptics in minimizing ocular surface bacterial load before ophthalmic surgery: a randomized controlled trial
Postoperative endophthalmitis (POE) is a rare but potentially sight-threatening complication of ophthalmic invasive procedures.1 The reported incidence of POE following cataract surgery, the most commonly performed intra-ocular procedure worldwide, is 0.023-0.026%.2 (Source: American Journal of Ophthalmology)

Longitudinal Characteristics of Choroidal Neovascular Membrane in Pediatric Patients
Choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM) is a rare but significant cause of visual impairment in children with greater disability-adjusted life years with social and educational repercussions compared to adults.1 Etiologies of pediatric CNVM are varied and include trauma, inflammatory chorioretinal disease, pathologic myopia, angioid streaks, retinal dystrophies, choroidal tumor, and optic nerve head drusen.2 In a recent large Intelligent Research in Sight (IRIS) Registry study,3 Finn et al reported idiopathic, inflammatory chorioretinal disease, and myopia as the most common causes of pediatric CNVM. Extending Peripheral Retinal Vascularization in Retinopathy of Prematurity Through Regulation of VEGF Signaling
Experimental studies provide evidence that regulation of VEGF receptor-2 signaling in endothelial cells orders cell divisions and extends developmental angiogenesis while inhibiting pathologic intravitreal angiogenesis and has relevance to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). We tested the hypothesis that intravitreal anti-VEGF would extend vascularization into peripheral avascular retina in human type 1 ROP compared with controls. Dislocated Soemmering's Ring in the Anterior Chamber
A 63-year-old male patient applied to us with a complaint of whiteness in his right eye. The best-corrected visual acuity was light perception negative in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. On biomicroscopic anterior segment examination, an object was compatible with a Soemmering's Ring in the anterior chamber of the right eye (Figure 1). Although the fundus was not illuminated, B-Mode ultrasonography showed hyperechogenicity in the anterior chamber and anterior vitreous, which may be compatible with the ring and intravitreal opacities.
