Metabolic score for insulin resistance predicts major adverse cardiovascular event in premature coronary artery disease
CONCLUSIONS: METS-IR serves as a reliable prognostic predictor of MACE in patients with premature CAD. Therefore, METS-IR may be considered a novel, cost-effective, and dependable indicator for risk stratification and early intervention in premature CAD.PMID:38568104 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205710 (Source: Aging)

A retrospective study on the effect of Chinese patent medicine combined with conventional treatment on the survival outcomes of 313 patients with stage II-III NSCLC
CONCLUSION: The medium and long-term use of CPM/HSOS was positively associated with higher survival rate in NSCLC patients. Patients with high-level preoperative FIB level and those without surgery might have a poor prognosis in the following years.PMID:38555532 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205697 (Source: Aging)

Inflammatory risk of albumin combined with C-reactive protein predicts long-term cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes
CONCLUSIONS: The inflammatory risk as defined by the GPS was closely related to the increased risk of cardiovascular and all-cause death in patients with diabetes. It may be a convenient and efficient clinical practical risk assessment tool for patients with diabetes.PMID:38555533 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205709 (Source: Aging)

Potential value of expression of receptor accessory protein 4 for evaluating the prognosis of lower-grade glioma patients
CONCLUSIONS: In brief, this study is the first to introduce REEP4 in malignant tumors, which can be used as an independent risk factor that participates in the malignant process of LGG. More importantly, REEP4 has the potential to become a new star in the field of anti-tumor treatment.PMID:38552216 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205695 (Source: Aging)

KIF3C: an emerging biomarker with prognostic and immune implications across pan-cancer types and its experiment validation in gastric cancer
Aging (Albany NY). 2024 Mar 28;16. doi: 10.18632/aging.205694. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTKinesin Family Member 3C (KIF3C) assumes a crucial role in various biological processes of specific human cancers. Nevertheless, there exists a paucity of systematic assessments pertaining to the contribution of KIF3C in human malignancies. We conducted an extensive analysis of KIF3C, covering its expression profile, prognostic relevance, molecular function, tumor immunity, and drug sensitivity. Functional enrichment analysis was also carried out. In addition, we conducted in vitro experiments to substantiate the role of KIF3C in g...

Role of CCR1/5/7 in hepatocellular carcinoma: a study on prognostic evaluation, molecular subtyping, and association with immune infiltration
This study aims to assess the prognostic value of the C-C motif chemokine receptor (CCR) gene family in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its relationship with immune infiltration and molecular subtypes of HCC. The evaluation of the GSE14520 dataset and TCGA database confirmed the prognostic significance of CCR. Building upon the correlation between CCR1, CCR5, and CCR7 and favorable prognosis, we further validated the prognostic importance of CCR1, CCR5, and CCR7 in ICGC database and an independent cohort from Guangxi autonomous region. Then, we constructed a risk prognosis model. Additionally, we observed significant po...

The protective effects of Arctiin in asthma by attenuating airway inflammation and inhibiting p38/NF- κB signaling
In this study, an asthma model was established in mice by stimulation with ovalbumin (OVA). Bronchoalveolar lavage (BALF) was collected from OVA-challenged mice and the cells were counted. Lung tissue was harvested for hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and measurement of Wet/Dry weight ratios. The expressions of proteins were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western blots. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in lung tissue was measured using a commercial kit. We found that Arctiin had beneficial effects on asthma treatment. Firstly, it attenuated OVA-challenged lung pathological alterations. S...
