Round Autoprosthesis: Use of Adipodermaglandular Flap in T Scar Mastopexy
ConclusionIn our study, the detachment of dermal connections at the level of the inframammary fold (IMF) and the smooth advancement of the flap in the form of an “island flap” made a contribution to upper pole fullness. Furthermore, we hypothesize that the fusion of the medial and lateral ends of the flap will enhance tissue integration during the healing process, promoting compatibility between the autoprosthesis tissue and breast tissue. Regarding the rates of complications described, classic mastopexy techniques have exhibited similar rates in our findings.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assig...

Hyaluronidase: A New and Powerful Ally for Post-Rhinoplasty Fibrosis
AbstractRhinoplasty outcome may depend on different factors: patient ’s selection, technique, surgeons’ skills and patient’s healing. Different surgical maneuvers can be performed in order to reduce post-operative risk of fibrosis such as dead spaces’ closure, sub-perichondral and subperiosteal dissection and nasal ligaments preservation or reconstruction. Ho wever, in some patients, especially the ones with thick and sebaceous skin, these maneuvers may not be enough. Here we propose a new alternative to treat post-rhinoplasty fibrosis using a combination of Triamcinolone Acetonide and Hyaluronidase.Level of Eviden...

Superselective Arterial Hyaluronidase Thrombolysis is an Effective Treatment for Hyaluronic Acid-Induced Retinal Artery Occlusion: Study in a Rabbit Model
ConclusionsWe report a method to establish a HA-induced retinal artery occlusion animal model. Hyaluronidase intra-artery thrombolysis was used to recanalize the embolized OA at different time points. Using our method, we achieved retinal reperfusion, and an improvement was observed in the visual function of rabbits after hyaluronidase thrombolysis following 4  h of occlusion. We believe that hyaluronidase intra-artery thrombolysis is an effective method to treat HA-induced retinal artery occlusion in clinic.Level of Evidence II This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Trigeminal Neuralgia after Hyaluronic Acid and Botox Injection
AbstractA rare case of trigeminal neuralgia following injections of Hyaluronic Acid and Botox was documented. In addressing the severe pain and swelling caused by the injection, a novel combination therapy was employed, notably including 5-fluorouracil. The significant improvement observed in this case not only provided clinical insights but also spurred further investigation into the underlying mechanisms linking trigeminal nerve damage to local dermal filler injections. The aim was to glean new medical perspectives and develop practical preventive strategies to mitigate such complications in future cases. This approach h...

Reply to: A Two-Step Approach for Breast Augmentation with Chest Wall Deformity?
AbstractPatients asking for cosmetic breast surgery often appreciate that their breasts have an unpleasing appearance, but they often do not have a full appreciation of the degree of potential anatomic abnormalities of the chest wall and of the specific anatomical characteristics, which require a meticulous surgical planning and techniques in comparison with a standard breast cosmetic surgery. Failure to recognize this will predispose the patient to an unsatisfactory outcome and secondary deformities. To maximize surgical predictability and patients ’ satisfaction, the authors proposed a two-stage approach in the scenari...

The Spatial Relationship Between Coronoid Process and Zygomatic Complex After Reduction Malarplasty
ConclusionsReduction malarplasty led to a slight decrease in the distance between the coronoid process and the zygoma. The operation generally resulted in proximity between the highest point of the coronoid process and the zygomatic arch. However, we believe that common reduction malarplasty rarely leads to osseous impingement.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Investigating the Contraction Pattern of the Zygomaticus Major Muscle and its Clinical Relevance: A Functional MRI Study
ConclusionThis MRI-based study indicates that the zygomaticus major muscle experiences isotonic contraction, characterized by decreased length and increased width and thickness. The findings underline the importance of muscle thickness as a reliable parameter in assessing facial muscle function and offer valuable guidance for practitioners in accurately evaluating muscle performance during different facial expressions. No Level AssignedThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each submission to which Evidence-Based Medicine rankings are applicable.
