Ozone Therapy in the Comprehensive Treatment of Leg Ulcers: Case Report
Treatment with ozone therapy is of interest in many fields of medicine. In the field of angiology, ozone is used to treat infected wounds that are difficult to heal. In this case report, the authors report the introduction of innovative therapeutic equipment into clinical practice to accelerate the healing process of clinical wounds by the external application of ozone in various forms. They present positive results of the comprehensive treatment of a 52-year-old woman with an ulcer on her right lower leg, which formed after a previous orthopedic surgery. In addition to pharmacotherapy and compression therapy, local ozone ...

The Effect of Sanyrene Liquid Dressing in Preventing Radiation Dermatitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Objective To assess the efficacy of Sanyrene liquid dressing (Urgo Medical) in preventing radiation dermatitis (RD) among patients with cancer after radiotherapy. Data Sources The authors searched the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, SinoMed, WanFang Data, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases for articles published from inception to January 2021. Study Selection The preliminary search identified 146 studies. After removing duplicates, applying exclusion criteria, and screening titles and abstracts, 19 studies met the inclusion criteria. Data Extraction A standa...

Effect of Educational Training on Nurses’ Ability to Care for Patients with Pressure Injuries: A Meta-analysis
Objective To provide up-to-date, systematic pooled evidence on the effect of educational training on nurses’ knowledge and classification skills related to pressure injuries. Data Sources The authors searched the following databases: MEDLINE, EMBASE, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Cochrane library. Study Selection Two investigators independently performed the primary screening (title, abstract, and keywords). Of the 903 articles identified, 99 studies met the eligibility criteria, and their full texts were reviewed. Of these, nine studies totaling 25,723 participants satisfied the inclusion criteria...

Promoting and Maintaining Skin Integrity in End-of-Life Care: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS The information contained in the recommendations will assist nurses in promoting and maintaining skin integrity in patients at the end of life. More research is needed on end-of-life skin care, with an emphasis on patient-centered, holistic strategies that improve patient well-being and quality of life. In most current research, recommendations are limited to literature reviews and level V evidence. Skin care must balance the promotion and maintenance of skin integrity, wound prevention, and management while promoting patient dignity and quality of life. (Source: Advances in Skin and Wound Care)

Characterization of Legal Claims Involving Patients with Pyoderma Gangrenosum
CONCLUSIONS The findings demonstrate a need for access to specialty care in incarcerated populations. Cases that occurred in a hospital setting also stress the importance of initiatives such as telemedicine to efficiently increase access to care in a cost-effective manner. Further, PG has been recognized as a severe impairment in disability claims despite patients being denied because they were deemed able to perform other work. Comparing the Energy-Stretch Properties of Two Compression Bandage Systems in a Laboratory-Based Test under Controlled Conditions
CONCLUSIONS The high work provided by the two layers of the DCS suggests a wider range of performance than the TLB when applied to the lower limb, especially after the limb volume is initially reduced by compression. Moreover, using the tensile test and the guide of the reference points on layers 1 and 2 from DCS, the calculated pressure achieved the expected values stated by the manufacturer. Human studies should be conducted to determine whether the reference points provided by DCS are beneficial for obtaining repeatable values. (Source: Advances in Skin and Wound Care)

Does Sacrococcygeal Skeletal Morphology and Morphometry Influence Pressure Injury Formation in Adults?
Conclusion Sacrococcygeal measurements differed in patients with PIs, and PIs were predominately located distally. Authors recommend replicating this study on a larger scale because certain key attributes warrant further investigation to determine their influence on sacrococcygeal PIs. Sacrococcygeal morphology and morphometry parameters have not been previously studied as possible intrinsic risk factors for PIs; yet, this is the most common location for their occurrence. Knowledge regarding possible injury mechanisms due to the forces from overlying skeletal structures with respective tissue loading over the sacrococc...
