The perceived helpfulness and acceptability of a bespoke psychological therapy service for registered nurses experiencing psychological distress: A qualitative study
CONCLUSION: Participants attempted to live up to an idealized image of a nurse, generating self-stigmatizing beliefs that negatively affected their mental health. The psychological therapy service enabled participants to put their roles into perspective, that is, separate themselves from their role, be vulnerable, and develop confidence and adaptive coping strategies. Participants valued the minimal barriers and ease of access to support.IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION AND/OR PATIENT CARE: The complex relationship between nurse identity and the challenges of the workplace needs to be central to nurse education. Nurses can ...

Trends in publication impact of evidence-based healthcare terminology (2013-2022)
CONCLUSION: We suggest a follow-up review in 3-5 years to identify publication trends to assess context and terms with continued low publication usage. Terms with persistent low usage should be considered for retirement in the reporting of scholarly activities. Additionally, terms with increasing publication trends should be treated as emerging terms that contribute to evidence-based healthcare terminology.IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING: Confusion about the use of appropriate terminology may hinder progress in the scholarship of evidence-based healthcare. We encourage scholars to be aware of publication impact as it relates to t...

A review of the therapeutic potential of the cysteinyl leukotriene antagonist Montelukast in the treatment of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome following lung and hematopoietic-stem cell transplantation and its possible mechanisms
Ther Adv Respir Dis. 2024 Jan-Dec;18:17534666241232284. doi: 10.1177/17534666241232284.ABSTRACTLung and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation are therapeutic modalities in chronic pulmonary and hematological diseases, respectively. One of the complications in these patients is the development of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS). The efficacy and safety of available treatment strategies in BOS remain a challenge. A few mechanisms have been recognized for BOS in lung transplant and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) patients involving the TH-1 and TH-2 cells, NF-kappa B, TGF-b, several cytokines and chemokines, and cy...

Investigating Length of Stay Patterns and Its Predictors in the South Wales Trauma Network
CONCLUSION: Our finding supports prior evidence indicating elderly people are vulnerable to longer stays. Moreover, concerning the types of admission wards, patients admitted to rehabilitation wards who underwent more than 2 hospitalisations also faced an increased risk of prolonged stay. Based on these results, policymakers and healthcare providers should contemplate expanding the allocation of medical resources to this demographic to mitigate the length of stay and optimise associated healthcare costs.PMID:38505372 | PMC:PMC10949546 | DOI:10.1177/27536351241237866 (Source: Adv Data)

Structural, morphological, electrical, and dielectric properties of Na < sub > 2 < /sub > Cu < sub > 5 < /sub > (Si < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 7 < /sub > ) < sub > 2 < /sub > for ASSIBs
This study investigates the sodium ion conduction mechanism and relaxation kinetics in the sorosilicate material Na2Cu5(Si2O7)2, a potential solid electrolyte, using impedance spectroscopy. Analysis of the DC conductivity data demonstrates that sodium ion mobility follows Arrhenius behavior with a thermal activation energy barrier of 1.21 eV. This work highlights the importance of carefully choosing an appropriate equivalent circuit model to extract DC conductivity parameters from impedance data, given the contributions from both grain and grain boundary effects. Analysis of the AC conductivity and dielectric constant as a...

Inference of differential gene regulatory networks using boosted differential trees
Bioinform Adv. 2024 Feb 29;4(1):vbae034. doi: 10.1093/bioadv/vbae034. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTSUMMARY: Diseases can be caused by molecular perturbations that induce specific changes in regulatory interactions and their coordinated expression, also referred to as network rewiring. However, the detection of complex changes in regulatory connections remains a challenging task and would benefit from the development of novel nonparametric approaches. We develop a new ensemble method called BoostDiff (boosted differential regression trees) to infer a differential network discriminating between two conditions. BoostDiff builds a...
