Relationship of problematic cannabis use among youth in Spain with perceived risk, environmental factors and sociodemographic factors.
ín V Abstract The relationship of problematic cannabis consumption with perceived risk, socioenvironmental and sociodemographic factors among youth in Spain is not well known. The aims of this study are: 1) to describe the patterns of cannabis consumption (problematic and non-problematic) in Spanish youth, and 2) to explore whether problematic cannabis consumption is related to perceived risk, environmental factors and individual sociodemographic characteristics. A cross-sectional design based on data from the 2015/16 Spanish Household Survey on Alcohol and Drugs (EDADES) was performed. Individuals between ...

Apps for smoking cessation through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. A review.
The objectives of this study are to carry out a review of the smoking cessation apps that apply CBT and to describe the techniques used by them. Following the PRISMA framework, the databases EBSCOhost, Cochrane, Web of Science and Scopus were searched for publications between 2010-2019. Four hundred fifteen studies were found and, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, only five articles were eligible for systematic review. Only three apps were identified as using CBT, and the techniques most commonly used were the recording of smoking history, progress visualised through graphics, psycho-educational videos, ...

Cannabis-induced psychosis: clinical characteristics and its differentiation from schizophrenia with and without cannabis use.
e;guez-Jiménez R Abstract Cannabis use is considered an established risk factor for psychosis development. Differentiating between cannabis-induced disorders and schizophrenia is useful for prognostic and therapeutic purposes. Three inpatients groups were differentiated: cannabis-induced psychosis (CIP) (n = 69; mean age = 27.4, SD = 6.5; 82.6% males), schizophrenia with cannabis abuse or dependence (SZ + CB) (n = 57; mean age = 31.9, SD = 10.1; 94.7% males) and schizophrenia without cannabis abuse or dependence (SZ) (n = 181; mean age = 41.8, SD = 13.3; 54.1% males). The objective was to evaluate the risk of presenting an alcohol use disorder (AUD) in outpatient psychiatric units and compare it with drug addiction outpatient units and with healthy controls in the same administrative health area. An observational, descriptive, multicenter study was carried out in which a total of 1054 participants were evaluated. Data were obtained by means of the camouflaged CAGE questionnaire, which consists of 4 basic questions camouflaged with 8 other questions about healthy lifestyle habits. Stimulant substance use and gambling behaviour in adolescents. Gambling and stimulant use.
Abstract Gambling is widely recognized as an important public health problem. Despite the rising use of stimulant substances among adolescents, there are still very few studies focusing on whether adolescents' use of stimulants is associated with their gambling behaviour. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between gambling habits and consumption of stimulants such as coffee, energy drinks, and new psychoactive substances in a sample of Italian adolescents. A survey was conducted in 2017 with a representative sample of Italians between the ages of 14-17 years, comprising 15,833 stud...

In this study we compared and analyzed the cross-cultural results found in the most recent research on the IAT factor analysis. We found that in countries with two or more studies, results are often replicated, suggesting that cultural context influences Internet behaviors. We conducted our own IAT factor analysis studies in three countries - Spain, USA, and Colombia - with a total of 1,273 participants. We compared our results with those from previous studies in the same countries and found similar results. The most notable finding was that all the IAT factor analyses, both ours and the previous ones in the same regions, ...

We used the OHCITIES instrument to characterise the alcohol outlets in 42 census tracts of Madrid in 2016. We specified alcohol availability as the density of alcohol outlets and the number of alcohol outlets with extended opening hours (12 or more). We registered any type of promotion associated to alcohol outlets that could be perceived from outside the outlet. We calculated and compared proportions of availability and ...

However, the results are not always homogeneous, revealing a subpopulation that does not show a preference for cocaine. Thus, the main aim of the present study was to characterize the behavioral profile of resilient mice to the stress-induced rewarding effects of cocaine using an animal model of repeated social defeat stress (SD). To this end, male adult mice of the C57/BL6 strain were exposed to SD and, three weeks later, assessed using the Conditioned Place Prefe...

Cannabis, schizophrenia and cognition: the contribution of brain connectivity.
The objective of this paper is to review available literature databases, selected for neurocognition in cannabis-using schizophrenia patients and to analyze contributions made by functional connectivity studies. Cognitive impairment among schizophrenia patients is found even before the appearance of the first psychotic symptoms. Measuring cognitive function in these patients, techniques such as fMRI and EEG have found brain impairment. Furthermore, regarding schizophrenia-diagnosed patients who use cannabis, some studies have shown less deterioration among cognitive domains, which may apparently be related with one of its ...

Measurement instruments of online gaming disorder in adolescents and young people according to DSM-5 criteria: a systematic review.
as I, Labrador FJ Abstract The inclusion of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) in the DSM-5 has generated controversy over its diagnosis, and it therefore seems necessary to establish a clear cut-off point to identify when excessive gaming becomes problematic. Such identification is especially difficult in adolescents and young people, who frequently dedicate a great deal of time to online games. The goal of this systematic review was to analyze the instruments developed to assess IGD in adolescents and young people since its inclusion in the DSM-5. We identified 13 studies which included validations of seven assessme...
