Procalcitonin and C ‐reactive protein as early markers of anastomotic leakage in intestinal resections for advanced ovarian cancer (EDMOCS)
ConclusionsProcalcitonin and C-reactive protein are potential biomarkers for early detection of anastomotic leakage after ovarian cancer surgery with bowel resection. Further prospective studies with a larger sample size are needed to confirm these findings. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

The endometrial transcriptome of infertile women with and without implantation failure
ConclusionsNo distinct endometrial transcriptome profile was associated with either implantation failure or success in infertile women. However, there may be differences in the extent to which the WOI is displaced. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Management and outcomes of women with low fibrinogen concentration during pregnancy or immediately postpartum: A UK national population ‐based cohort study
ConclusionsFibrinogen<2  g/L often, but not exclusively, affected women with postpartum hemorrhage due to placental abruption, atony, or trauma. Other more rare and catastrophic obstetrical events such as amniotic fluid embolism and placenta accreta also led to low levels of fibrinogen. Maternal and perinatal mortality w as extremely high in our cohort. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Immunological parameters of maternal peripheral blood as predictors of future pregnancy outcomes in patients with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss

Angiogenic imbalance in pregnancies with preterm prelabor rupture of membranes between 34 and 37  weeks of gestation
ConclusionsAmong women experiencing late PPROM, angiogenic imbalance in maternal serum is primarily observed in those without both microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity and intra-amniotic inflammation. Additionally, there is an association between angiogenic imbalance and the presence of maternal vascular malperfusion. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Cannabis exposure during pregnancy and perinatal outcomes: A cohort study
ConclusionsAntenatal cannabis use increases the risk of SGA, low birthweight, preterm birth and other adverse perinatal outcomes. However, when isolating the impact of cannabis use by excluding women who use other recreational drugs and those who discontinue cannabis during pregnancy, no significant association between antenatal cannabis use and SGA birth was found. Outpatient labor induction —Exploring future potential by assessing eligibility in a historical cohort
ConclusionsIn this historical cohort, three in ten women met the criteria for outpatient management of labor induction with oral misoprostol. Serious adverse events were rare. The average time span from the initiation of labor induction to the last misoprostol was nearly 24  h. This suggests a potential for low-risk women with an induced labor to spend a substantial period of time at home before labor onset. However, larger studies testing or evaluating labor induction with oral misoprostol as an outpatient procedure are needed to draw conclusions. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Use of medication in pregnancy on the rise: Study on 1.4  million Danish pregnancies from 1998 to 2018
ConclusionsMedication use in general, and polypharmacy in particular, increased from 1998 to 2008, possibly as the result of an increased prevalence of pregnant women with chronic conditions requiring pharmacological treatment. Notably, a marked maternal age-based discrepancy in usage pattern was observed, highlighting the need for further research in this area. The rise in the prevalence of polypharmacy during pregnancy underscores the need for pharmacovigilance to monitor adverse effects. Future studies should investigate the patterns of polypharmacy and the accompanying maternal and fetal risks. (Source: Acta Obstetrici...

Right ventricular outflow tract obstruction in twin ‐to‐twin transfusion syndrome undergoing laser surgery: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsRVOT occurs in about 6% of the recipient twins with TTTS, especially in stages III and IV and those with reversed ductus venosus a-wave. The findings from this systematic review support the need for a thorough cardiac assessment of pregnancies complicated by TTTS, both before and after laser, to maximize perinatal outcome, and the importance of early diagnosis of TTTS and timely management. Associations between arterial health and sexual function in women aged 60 –64 years
ConclusionsThis study suggested a plausible association between higher diastolic blood pressure and female sexual function, but considering clinical significance our findings suggest an association between higher ankle –brachial index and good sexual function in women in their 60s. Prediction of preterm birth in women with fetal growth restriction – Is the weekly change in sFlt‐1/PlGF ratio or PlGF levels useful?
ConclusionsBoth a high sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and low PlGF levels are predictive of preterm birth in women with fetal growth restriction. Although the rate of increase of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio predicts preterm birth, it is not superior to either a single elevated sFlt-1/PlGF ratio or low PlGF level. Progestogens in women with threatened miscarriage or recurrent miscarriage: A meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsIn women at increased risk of pregnancy loss, progestogens probably increase live births without increasing adverse maternal and neonatal events. It remains possible that the benefit is restricted to those with prior miscarriages. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)
