Investigation of statistical methods used in prognostic prediction models for obstetric care: A 10  year‐span cross‐sectional study
ConclusionsThe use of statistical methods is not yet optimal. Ten recommendations were offered to assist the statistical methods of prognostic prediction models in obstetric care. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Influence of pelvic floor muscle training alone or as part of a general physical activity program during pregnancy on urinary incontinence, episiotomy and third ‐ or fourth‐degree perineal tear: Systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized clinical trials
ConclusionsPFMT during pregnancy proves to be an effective preventive intervention for reducing the risk of urinary incontinence and the occurrence of third- or fourth-degree perineal tears. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating PFMT into antenatal care and training programs to improve maternal well-being and overall childbirth outcomes. Maternal overweight and obesity and its association with metabolic changes and fetal overgrowth in the absence of gestational diabetes mellitus: A prospective cohort study
ConclusionsMothers affected by overweight or obesity but not GDM had a higher risk for fetal overgrowth. An impaired metabolic milieu related to increased maternal BMI as well as higher glucose levels at mid-gestation may impact fetal overgrowth in women still in the range of normal glucose tolerance. Routine use of cell salvage during cesarean section: A practice evaluation
ConclusionsRoutine intraoperative cell salvage may be used to reduce the need for blood transfusion during cesarean section. The risk of fetal cell alloimmunization in a future pregnancy following reinfusion of intraoperative cell salvage is one in 436. Given an apparent small risk of fetal cell alloimmunization, further work is required to establish the safety profile of intraoperative cell salvage in pregnancy. Global prevalence of perinatal depression and anxiety during  the COVID‐19 pandemic: An umbrella review and meta‐analytic synthesis
ConclusionsDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, depression and anxiety were common, affecting almost one in three perinatal women globally. A high heterogeneity and a risk of publication bias were found, partially due to the variety of assessment tools and cut-offs. The results may not be generalized to minorities. Studies on the prevalence of clinical diagnoses are needed. Based on our results it is not possible to firmly affirm that the COVID-19 pandemic was the main factor that directly increased perinatal depression and anxiety during the past few years. Future studies should study other factors' impact. (Source: Acta Obstetr...

Labor induction at 41+0 gestational weeks or expectant management for the nulliparous woman: The Finnish randomized controlled multicenter trial
ConclusionsOffering labor induction to nulliparous women at 41+0 gestational weeks may decrease the probability of operative delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal weight ≥4000 g. However, this study was underpowered to affirm the trends of rising rates of CS and adverse neonatal outcomes in the expectant management group. Thus, expectant management could remain an option for some, as one in two women with expectant management had a spontaneous onset of labor. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Antibiotic use during pregnancy in Sweden: A nationwide utilization study covering 2007 –2019

Efficacy and safety of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of mild SARS ‐CoV‐2 infection and prevention of COVID‐19 severity in pregnant and postpartum women: A randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial
ConclusionsHCQ was found to be safe in pregnant and postpartum women with asymptomatic or mild SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although the prevalence of infection was decreased in the HCQ group, the statistical power was insufficient to confirm the potential beneficial effect of HCQ for COVID-19 treatment. ST waveform analysis versus cardiotocography alone for intrapartum fetal monitoring: An updated systematic review and meta ‐analysis of randomized trials
ConclusionsAbsolute effects of STAN were minor and the clinical significance of the observed reduction in metabolic acidosis is questioned. There is insufficient evidence to state that STAN as an adjunct to CTG leads to important clinical benefits compared with CTG alone. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)

Maternal metabolic profiling across body mass index groups: An exploratory longitudinal study
ConclusionsOverweight or obese women had smaller pregnancy-related metabolic alterations than normal-weight/underweight women. There was a trend toward higher triglyceride and VLDL particle concentration in overweight/obese women. As this was a hypothesis-generating study, the similarities with late-onset pre-eclampsia warrant further investigation. The unfavorable development of fatty acid composition in overweight/obese women, with possible implication for the offspring, should also be studied further in the future. Pelvic floor and sexual function 3  years after hysterectomy – A prospective cohort study
ConclusionsThree years after surgery robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and abdominal hysterectomy improve pelvic floor function to the same extent. Among the sexually active women, a decline of sexual function was seen after 3  years, not consistent with the entire cohort and independent of surgical methods. Whether this is a trend associated with aging or menopausal transition remains to be studied. (Source: Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica)
