Social cognition, emotion-regulation and social competence in classical galactosemia patients without intellectual disability
CONCLUSION: This study shows that CG patients without intellectual disability are satisfied with their social competence, especially social functioning. Nevertheless, deficits in social cognition are present in a large proportion of CG-patients. Due to the large variability in scores and discrepancies between self- and proxy-report, an individually tailored, comprehensive neuropsychological assessment including social cognition is advised in all CG-patients. Treatment plans need to be customized to the individual patient.PMID:38178723 | DOI:10.1017/neu.2023.61 (Source: Acta Neuropsychiatrica)

Bradykinin actions in the central nervous system: historical overview and psychiatric implications
Acta Neuropsychiatr. 2024 Jan 5:1-33. doi: 10.1017/neu.2023.57. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBradykinin (BK), a well-studied mediator of physiological and pathological processes in the peripheral system, has garnered less attention regarding its function in the central nervous system, particularly in behavioural regulation. This review delves into the historical progression of research focused on the behavioural effects of BK and other drugs that act via similar mechanisms to provide new insights into the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of psychiatric disorders. Evidence from experiments with animal models indicates t...
