Lewy body pathology in Alzheimer's disease: A clinicopathological prospective study
ConclusionsOur study suggests that the presence (or absence) of LTS influences motor and non ‐motor clinical findings in AD patients. These findings may lead to biomarkers that allow for more targeted treatment of AD. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Early ‐SEPs’ amplitude reduction is reliable for poor‐outcome prediction after cardiac arrest?
ConclusionNot only the absence but also a bilateral amplitude reduction of cortical SEPs (<0.65 μV) is associated with ominous prognosis (death or non‐recovery of consciousness) with a very high predictive value. However, we emphasize that great caution should be applied before adopting amplitude reduction as a criterion for the poor prognosis of CA patients. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

High risk of early neurological worsening of lacunar infarction
ConclusionsLacunar infarctions with minor neurological deficits within 3  hours of stroke onset are at high risk of neurological worsening especially if concomitant low body temperature and leukoaraiosis. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Antiepileptic drugs are associated with central hypothyroidism
Conclusion21% of patients treated with AEDs had CH, more often patients taking carbamazepine or oxacarbazepine, and more often women. The s ‐fT4‐level was lower among patients treated with AEDs. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Glucose metabolism in the brain in LMNB1 ‐related autosomal dominant leukodystrophy
ConclusionsGlobal reduction of grey matter glucose metabolism in this white matter disease most likely depends on a combination of cortical afferent dysfunction and, in later stages, neuronal loss. The lowest metabolism in the cerebellum is consistent with histopathological findings and prominent cerebellar symptoms. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

The effect of continuous levodopa treatment during the afternoon hours
ConclusionThe results from all studies were consistent, both in the proportion of patients in the three groups and in the value of TRS decrease in the afternoon hours. Based on these findings, there seems to be a group of patients with predictable "off" behavior in the later parts of the day. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

The width of the third ventricle associates with cognition and behaviour in motor neuron disease
ConclusionsThe enlargement of the WTV found in the different MND phenotypes is attributable to the subcortical grey matter atrophy and is associated with cognitive and behavioural impairment. Larger longitudinal studies are needed to determine its role as biomarker in MND patients with frontotemporal dementia. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Antiepileptic monotherapy in newly diagnosed focal epilepsy. A network meta ‐analysis
Second and third generation AEDs have been directly compared to controlled ‐release carbamazepine (CBZ‐CR) as initial monotherapy for new‐onset focal epilepsy. Conversely, no head‐to‐head trials have been performed. The aim of this study was to estimate the comparative efficacy and tolerability of the antiepileptic monotherapies in adults with newly diagnosed foc al epilepsy through a network meta‐analysis (NMA). Randomized, double‐blinded, parallel group, monotherapy studies comparing any AED to CBZ‐CR in adults with newly diagnosed untreated epilepsy with focal‐onset seizures was identified. The outcome...
