Evaluation of analytical and clinical performance of the AFIAS Tn-I plus assay - a new point-of-care
CONCLUSION: The clinical performance of AFIAS Tn-I Plus assay for AMI is comparable to the established Abbott ALINITY STAT High Sensitive Troponin-I. This assay is suitable for routine use in clinical laboratories.PMID:38032250 | DOI:10.1080/00015385.2023.2286423 (Source: Acta Cardiologica)

The effect of COVID-19 on the thromboembolic outcomes in atrial fibrillation patients in the long run
CONCLUSIONS: Having caught COVID-19 is likely to be associated with increased long-term thromboembolic outcomes in AF patients. Albeit the study design does not permit us to infer causality, our results question the necessity of more intensive anticoagulant therapy and closer follow-up in AF patients with past COVID-19.PMID:38032255 | DOI:10.1080/00015385.2023.2286421 (Source: Acta Cardiologica)

Long-term follow-up of patients undergoing add-on pacing/sensing lead vs. ICD lead implantation for failed IS-1/DF-1 ICD leads: a single centre experience
CONCLUSIONS: Addition of a PSL for IS-1/DF-1 ICD LF with normal high-voltage conductor measurements is a viable treatment option with similar long-term results to addition of a new ICD lead. This approach is potentially less costly, technically less demanding, and, in case of concomitant extraction procedure, associated with less acute complication risk.PMID:38032259 | DOI:10.1080/00015385.2023.2285550 (Source: Acta Cardiologica)
