Chronic pain-mental health comorbidity and excess prevalence of health risk behaviours: a cross-sectional study
Prim Health Care Res Dev. 2024 Apr 8;25:e15. doi: 10.1017/S1463423624000070.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Chronic musculoskeletal pain and anxiety/depression are significant public health problems. We hypothesised that adults with both conditions constitute a group at especially high risk of future cardiovascular health outcomes.AIM: To determine whether having comorbid chronic musculoskeletal pain and anxiety/depression is associated with the excess prevalence of selected known cardiovascular health risk behaviours.METHOD: A cross-sectional survey of adults aged 35+ years randomly sampled from 26 GP practice registers in West Midla...

Comparison of outcomes in patients with and without neurologic diseases undergoing holmium laser enucleation of the prostate
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with ND undergoing HoLEP are more likely to experience postoperative retention and higher complication rates compared to non-ND patients. While UTI rates are higher in this population, HoLEP significantly reduced three-month UTI and catheterization rates.PMID:38587977 | DOI:10.5489/cuaj.8683 (Source: Canadian Urological Association Journal)

Sensors, Vol. 24, Pages 2357: Application of Artificial Intelligence and Sensor Fusion for Soil Organic Matter Prediction
In this study, we tested the hypothesis that an accurate estimate of SOM might be obtained by combining the ground-based sensor-captured soil parameters and soil analysis data along with drone images of the farm. The data are gathered using three different methods: ground-based sensors detect soil parameters such as temperature, pH, humidity, nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium of the soil; aerial photos taken by UAVs display the vegetative index (NDVI); and the Haney test of soil analysis reports measured in a lab from collected samples. Our datasets combined the soil parameters collected using ground-based sensors, soil...

Understanding Bias in Artificial Intelligence: A Practice Perspective [ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE]
SUMMARY: In the fall of 2021, several experts in this space delivered a Webinar hosted by the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) Diversity and Inclusion Committee, focused on expanding the understanding of bias in artificial intelligence, with a health equity lens, and provided key concepts for neuroradiologists to approach the evaluation of these tools. In this perspective, we distill key parts of this discussion, including understanding why this topic is important to neuroradiologists and lending insight on how neuroradiologists can develop a framework to assess health equity–related bias in artificial intel...

Complex Trauma Exposure and Placement Stability among Systems-Impacted Black and Latinx Youth: The Mediating Role of Multisystemic Strengths
Child Maltreat. 2024 Apr 7:10775595241242439. doi: 10.1177/10775595241242439. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating role of multisystemic strengths in the association between complex trauma (CT) exposure and placement stability among racialized youth using the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strength (CANS) assessment. Participants were 4022 Black and Latinx youth in the child welfare system in a midwestern state. Negative binomial regressions revealed a significant indirect effect of CT exposure on placement stability through interpersonal strengths (p < .01), coping ski...
