The Integrated Healing Program: Outcomes Associated with a New Intensive Interdisciplinary Pain Program (IIPT) for Teens in Wisconsin
The “Integrated Healing Program” was developed through a novel partnership amongst Children’s Wisconsin, Rogers Behavioral Health, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The purpose of this study was to evaluate patient-reported outcomes associated with this new IIPT program. The Program was design ed as a Partial Hospitalization Program with integrated physical therapy and medical support. Participants must be 13-18 years and have a medical condition resulting in functional impairment with a decline in health, physical, and emotional quality of life that is exacerbated by psychological factor s. Psychometrics of a Fear-Avoidance Measure Adapted for Youth with Concussion: Fear of Concussive Symptoms Questionnaire (FOCSQ)
Fear-avoidance is a risk factor for chronic pain, and recent research suggests fear-avoidance might play a role in prolonged concussion recovery, but standardized measures of fear-avoidance focus on pain rather than broader concussive symptoms. We adapted the Fear of Pain Questionnaire (FOPQ), changing “pain” to “concussive symptoms” and generating parent-proxy and youth-report versions, calling the new scale the Fear of Concussive Symptoms Questionnaire (FOCSQ). We assessed psychometrics of this scale with a sample of N=110 youth with concussion (mean age = 15.1 years, 58% female, 70% Non -Hispanic White, 15% Hisp...

Investigating Neurometabolites and Pain in Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex, chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive difficulties. The exact cause of FM remains elusive, with factors like abnormal pain processing and central nervous system sensitization implicated in its pathophysiology. One hypothesis is that the immune system is frequently activated, prompting microglia to initiate a central inflammatory state. The purpose of this study was to use whole-brain magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) to investigate whether abnormal inflammation in the central nervous system may be asso...

81 Evaluation of neoadjuvant chemo-immunotherapy for operable non-small cell lung cancer: clinical outcomes and impact on service delivery
Checkmate 816 has established a new standard of care for operable NSCLC, combining neoadjuvant nivolumab with 3 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy, granted approval in the UK in March 2023. This represents a shift in practice from traditional adjuvant treatment, with implications for patient care and service delivery. (Source: Lung Cancer)

61 The first-in-class peroxiredoxin 3 (PRX3) inhibitor RSO-021 modulates the mesenchymal and immune phenotype in mesothelioma
RSO-021 is a first-in-class PRX3 inhibitor currently being investigated in a first-in-human phase 1/2 clinical trial called MITOPE, which is currently recruiting patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) arising from mesothelioma or other solid tumors (NCT05278975). Mesothelioma cells rely on buffering of mitochondrial oxidative stress through the expression and activity of mitochondrial PRX3, which is covalently inactivated by RSO-021. Inactivation of PRX3 by RSO-021 leads to increased oxidative stress and tumor cell death. (Source: Lung Cancer)

208 SynthEtic LEthal Cancer Therapy in mesothelioma (SELECTmeso): a molecularly stratified multi-arm phase II platform trial for patients with relapsed malignant mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused by exposure to asbestos typically affecting the pleura or pericardium. Prognosis remains dismal yet targeted therapies are lacking. Advances have revealed a preponderance of tumour suppressors in mesothelioma, which may present new opportunities to develop treatments. The SELECTmeso trial platform, coordinated by the Cancer Research UK Southampton Clinical Trials Unit, has been developed to leverage new insights into synthetic lethal biology to improve treatment outcomes. Midwives' attitudes toward the use of cardiotocograph (CTG) machines in labor units: A study in Jordan
CONCLUSION: This study provides new insights into the attitudes of Jordanian midwives towards CTG use in labor units. These suggest that it is critical to conduct training courses for registered midwives to help them develop and/or regain confidence and competence with respect to various key aspects of intrapartum care, including intermittent auscultation and the appropriate use of CTG.PMID:38555829 | DOI:10.1016/j.midw.2024.103978 (Source: Midwifery)

Histories of neighborhood socioeconomic status contribute to race differences in later-life cognition
DISCUSSION: Disinvestment in neighborhoods may be particularly salient in race disparities in cognitive function.HIGHLIGHTS: Race is implicated in the likelihood of living in more disadvantaged neighborhoods. Historical trends in neighborhood disadvantage are associated with cognitive function in older adulthood. Identifying patterns of neighborhood change may inform neighborhood-level interventions.PMID:38552138 | DOI:10.1002/alz.13786 (Source: The Journal of Alzheimers Association)
