Modifiable risk factors for thyroid cancer: lifestyle and residence environment
This article endeavours to elucidate the correlation between lifestyle, residential environment, and the increased prevalence of thyroid cancer in recent years. It specifies the frequency of the lifestyle and outlines the scope of the residential environment. It also endeavours to summarise the main mechanistic pathways of various modifiable risk factors that cause thyroid cancer. Factors that prevent thyroid cancer include smoking and alcohol consumption, quality and regular sleep, consumption of cruciferous vegetables and dairy products, and consistent long-term exercise. Conversely, individuals with specific genetic mut...

Evaluation of absenteeism and presenteeism status of factory employees
CONCLUSIONS: To increase the productivity and commitment of employees, it may be useful to identify the reasons for absenteeism and present behaviours, to facilitate effective interpersonal communication skills by examining the organisational climate of employees, and to regulate workload based on a comprehensive assessment of the health status of employees.PMID:38489212 | DOI:10.3233/WOR-230642 (Source: Work)

Sustainable
When we began investigating burnout and physician job satisfaction in 1995 (with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Physician Worklife Study1), there were few invited talks, a very few journals who published the work, and many people wondered if the work was scholarly. Physician burnout was 27% (60% higher in women than men2) compared to the current situation with burnout rates over 50%3 (still 50% higher in women4) and health care workers (HCWs) leaving their jobs in droves5. Chief wellness officers have become commonplace as have wellness committees. (Source: The American Journal of Medicine)

Deprivation and Its Association with Child Health and Nutrition in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area of Uganda
AbstractAfrican cities are experiencing increasing living standard disparities with limited evidence of intra-urban health disparities. Using data from the 2006 –2016 Uganda Demographic and Health Surveys, we employed the UN-Habitat definition to examine slum-like household conditions in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA). Subsequently, we developed a slum-like severity index and assessed its association with under-5 common morbidities and healt hcare access. We also assessed the characteristics of people in slum-like household conditions. We identified five slum-like conditions: substandard housing conditions...

IJERPH, Vol. 21, Pages 330: Impact of Stress during COVID-19 Pandemic in Italy: A Study on Dispositional and Behavioral Dimensions for Supporting Evidence-Based Targeted Strategies
rina Castellano The COVID-19 pandemic caused critical mental health issues and lifestyle disruptions. The aim of this study was to explore, during the lockdown of second-wave contagions in Italy, how stress was affected by dispositional (personality factors and intolerance to uncertainty) and behavioral (coping strategies) dimensions, how these variables differed among sex, age, educational, professional, and health groups, and how the various changes in work and daily routine intervened in the psychological impact of the emergency. Our results highlight that women, the youngs, students/trainees, those with chronic dis...

Unlocking local value-added opportunities in the energy transition in former coal regions —the case of Lusatia (Lausitz)
AbstractThe main result of this study is that Lusatia, as an energy transition and structural change region, still has high expansion potential for photovoltaic and wind energy systems. In 2040, electricity production from wind turbines could reach four times the current level. In the case of photovoltaic systems, around seven to eight times the current level is possible. Only in the area of biomass has the expansion potential already been largely exhausted. The building sector can also contribute to achieving climate neutrality. If the renovation rate is significantly increased to 3.3% per year by 2040, the required heati...

The straw that broke the nurse's back-Using psychological contract breach to understand why nurses leave
CONCLUSION: Unfulfilled expectations over a longer period might cause psychological contract breach, leading to turnover intentions. Our research brings novel insights into the psychological contract, as our findings indicate that the psychological contract can be formed and breached, also between the employee and the occupation. This means that turnover intentions might result in nurses leaving the profession rather than seeking work in new organizations.IMPACT: The study addresses the problem of nurse shortage by showing the root reasons for deciding to leave the occupation. Our findings show how psychological contract b...
