Identification of a Novel IGSF1 Variant in Two Malaysian Male Siblings with Central Hypothyroidism and Macroorchidism
J Clin Res Pediatr Endocrinol. 2024 Apr 22. doi: 10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2024.2023-12-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIGSF1 mutation is the commonest cause of mild to moderate isolated central congenital hypothyroidism and has an X-linked recessive inheritance, primarily affecting males. Other notable clinical features are macroorchidism with delayed pubertal testosterone rise, large birth weight, increased body mass index, low prolactin, transient growth hormone deficiency and low prolactin. Two male siblings with central hypothyroidism were found to have a novel IGSF1 c.3467T>A variant that was likely pathogenic based ...

Robotic Biliary Stricturoplasty and Roux-en-Y Hepaticojejunostomy After Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump Injury
CONCLUSIONS: Robotic biliary stricturoplasty with RY hepaticojejunostomy for treatment of biliary sclerosis after HAIP chemotherapy is safe and feasible. Appropriate experience in minimally invasive hepatobiliary surgery is necessary to achieve this goal.PMID:38632219 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15258-0 (Source: Ann Oncol)

ALECT2 amyloidosis with concurrent IgG4-related interstitial nephritis, membranous nephropathy and diabetic kidney disease: a case report and literature review
J Nephrol. 2024 Apr 17. doi: 10.1007/s40620-024-01924-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLeukocyte chemotactic factor-2 amyloidosis (ALECT2) is a recently described subtype of amyloidosis. IgG4-related disease is a rare fibroinflammatory condition characterized by dense interstitial lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates and fibrosis. Membranous nephropathy and diabetic nephropathy are common causes of nephrotic syndrome. Here we report a 49-year-old Hispanic male patient with diabetes mellitus who presented with jaundice and pruritus. IgG4-related autoimmune pancreatitis was diagnosed through laboratory workup and ampulla biopsy. He...

Precirrhotic Primary Biliary Cholangitis with Portal Hypertension: Bile Duct Injury Correlate
CONCLUSIONS: : Approximately 24.2% of precirrhotic PBC patients have PH, which is histologically related to the injury of bile ducts. High alkaline phosphatase levels, low white blood cell counts, high Mayo scores, and high FIB-4 index values are associated with increased risk of precirrhotic PBC with PH.PMID:38623061 | DOI:10.5009/gnl230468 (Source: Gut and Liver)
