Visible-Light Activation of Diorganyl Bis(pyridylimino) Isoindolide Aluminum(III) Complexes and Their Organometallic Radical Reactivity
We report on the synthesis and characterization of a series of (mostly) air-stable diorganyl bis(pyridylimino) isoindolide (BPI) aluminum complexes and their chemistry upon visible-light excitation. The redox non-innocent BPI pincer ligand allows for efficient charge transfer homolytic processes of the title compounds. This makes them a universal platform for the generation of carbon-centered radicals. The photo-induced homolytic cleavage of the Al-C bonds was investigated by means of stationary and transient UV/Vis spectroscopy, spin trapping experiments, as well as EPR and NMR spectroscopy. The experimental findings were...

Unveiling the shadows: Parental perceptions and familial impact of daycare abuse of preschool children
CONCLUSIONS: In examining the parents' perspectives, the current study's findings presented essential empirical knowledge regarding the DA phenomenon and encouraged future studies in this area. This study has the potential to serve as a basis for the creation of professional training programs.PMID:38513428 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2024.106755 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Diagnosis and treatment of elevated lipoprotein(a) in israel: consensus statement from the israel society for research, prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and israel society for clinical laboratory sciences
Harefuah. 2024 Mar;163(3):185-190.ABSTRACTLipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is composed of 2 major protein components, a low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol-like particle containing apolipoprotein B (apo B) that is covalently bound to apolipoprotein(a). Its level is predominantly genetically determined, and it is estimated that 20% to 25% of the population have Lp(a) levels that are associated with increased cardiovascular risk. Elevated Lp(a) is related to increased vascular inflammation, calcification, atherogenesis and thrombosis, and is considered an independent and potentially causal risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiov...

The impact of regulation and central management on patient safety in israel
Harefuah. 2024 Mar;163(3):170-173.ABSTRACTAn adverse event is defined as an unwanted and unexpected occurrence in a medical process that may end in harm to the patient. In the USA the number of deaths due to failures reaches 253,000 per year. In Israel, over 10,000 deaths occur per year due to errors in the medical treatment of hospitalized patients, the third most common cause of death after heart disease and cancer. The main cause of failures in medical diagnosis and treatment is the complexity of the medical profession. A large number of caregivers in different medical disciplines are needed to treat one patient, theref...

Attitudes and knowledge about weight management among primary care physicians in Israel: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Many PCPs still do not actively provide obesity treatment despite improved awareness and therapeutic options. PCPs' proactivity and attitudes are vital to this effort.PMID:38504167 | PMC:PMC10949690 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02324-5 (Source: Primary Care)

Predisposition in Dynamic Covalent Chemistry: The Role of Non-Covalent Interactions in the Assembly of Tetrahedral Boronate Cages
This study explores these challenges by synthesizing boronic acid tripods with varied oxygen positions at the tripodal feet and investigating their role in assembling tetrahedral boronate MOCs. Our results reveal substantial differences in the assembly efficiency among tripods. While the building blocks with oxygen in the benzylic position relative to the central aromatic ring form the MOCs in high yields, those with the oxygen atom directly bound to the central aromatic ring, only yield traces. Through X-ray crystallography and DFT analyses, we elucidate how intramolecular interactions profoundly influence the geometry of...
