Nintedanib downregulates the profibrotic M2 phenotype in cultured monocyte-derived macrophages obtained from systemic sclerosis patients affected by interstitial lung disease
CONCLUSIONS: In cultured MDMs from SSc-ILD pts, nintedanib seems to downregulate the profibrotic M2 phenotype through the significant reduction of gene expression and protein synthesis of M2 cell surface markers, together with the significant reduction of TGFβ1 release, and notably MerTK, a tyrosine kinase receptor involved in lung fibrosis.PMID:38509595 | DOI:10.1186/s13075-024-03308-7 (Source: Cell Research)

Are immune checkpoint inhibitors safe and effective in lung cancer patients with pre-existing interstitial lung disease?
Conclusion: Generally, a pre-existing ILD history can increase the efficacy and incidence of ICIs' adverse reactions. Therefore, ICIs should be administered with caution.PMID:38511241 | DOI:10.2217/imt-2023-0147 (Source: Cancer Control)

Physical activity coaching in patients with interstitial lung diseases: A randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: Twelve weeks of telecoaching did not improve physical activity, physical fitness or quality of life in patients with ILD. Future physical or behavioural interventions are needed for these patients to improve physical activity.PMID:38511242 | PMC:PMC10956148 | DOI:10.1177/14799731241235231 (Source: Chronic Respiratory Disease)

Compare three diagnostic criteria of progressive pulmonary fibrosis
CONCLUSIONS: In the current situations, both the 1- and 2-year criterion are the reasonable choice to define PPF both in researches and clinical practice, and DLCO% is an independent predictor for mortality of PPF.PMID:38505056 | PMC:PMC10944769 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-481 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)
