Cerebral oximetry monitoring versus usual care for extremely preterm infants: a study protocol for the 2-year follow-up of the SafeBoosC-III randomised clinical trial
The objective of the SafeBoosC-III follow-up study is to assess mortality, neurodevelopmental disability, or any harm in trial participants at 2 years of corrected age. One important challenge is the lack of funding for local costs for a trial-specific assessm ent.MethodsOf the 1601 infants randomised in the SafeBoosC-III trial, 1276 infants were alive at 36  weeks’ postmenstrual age and will potentially be available for the 2-year follow-up. Inclusion criteria will be enrollment in a neonatal intensive care unit taking part in the follow-up study and parental consent if required by local regulations. We aim to collect...

High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) vs continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) vs nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation as primary respiratory support in infants of  ≥ 32 weeks gestational age (GA): study protocol for a three-arm multi-center randomized controlled trial
This study will provide clinical evidence for the development of respiratory treatment strategies in neonates at GA ≥ 32 weeks with RD, with the aim of minimizing the incidence of tracheal intubation and reducing the complications associated with NIV.Trial registrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry: ChiCTR2300069192. Frequency of screening and SBT Technique Trial —North American Weaning Collaboration (FAST-NAWC): an update to the protocol and statistical analysis plan
AbstractBackgroundThis update summarizes key changes made to the protocol for the Frequency of Screening and Spontaneous Breathing Trial (SBT) Technique Trial —North American Weaning Collaborative (FAST-NAWC) trial since the publication of the original protocol. This multicenter, factorial design randomized controlled trial with concealed allocation, will compare the effect of both screening frequency (once vs. at least twice daily) to identify candidat es to undergo a SBT and SBT technique [pressure support + positive end-expiratory pressure vs. T-piece] on the time to successful extubation (primary outcome) in 760 ...

Assessment of implementation methods in sepsis: study protocol for a cluster-randomized hybrid type 2 trial
This study will be entirely conducted in the Emergency Department at 18 sites. A seco ndary aim is to identify clinical sepsis phenotypes and their impact on treatment outcomes.DiscussionThis cluster-randomized trial, employing implementation science methodology, is timely and important to the field. The hybrid effectiveness-implementation design is likely to have an impact on clinical practice in sepsis management by providing a rigorous evaluation of the 1- and 3-h bundles.FundingNHLBI R01HL162954.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov NCT05491941.
