Exploring The Diverse Therapeutic Potentials of Synthetic Analogues of Keto-terpenoids (+) Carvone: A Future Scaffold
CONCLUSION: S(+) carvone has a CNS depressive impact and possesses an anti-convulsant activity. According to the research parameters on both the enantiomers, R&S can block GABA binding sites. Therefore, it suggests that S(+) carvone may be the new moiety for anticonvulsant activity. It has been observed by various studies that the S(+) carvone is more powerful than R(-) carvone. Therefore, it can be concluded that S(+) Carvone can serve as a scaffold for anticonvulsant activity.PMID:38551059 | DOI:10.2174/0118715249278766240322054108 (Source: Molecular Medicine)

Reticular abscess in buffaloes and cattle: clinical-biochemical, diagnostic imaging findings, treatment and long-term follow-up
This study aims to describe clinical features, hemato-biochemical alterations, management, productive and reproductive performance, long term follow-up of reticular abscess in bovines. This prospective study was conducted on 12 bovines diagnosed with reticular abscess. All the animals were subjected to hematological and biochemical evaluation along with a healthy control group. The diseased animals were subjected to radiography, ultrasonography, and surgical treatment. The clinical findings were chronic anorexia, dehydration, persistent or recurrent tympany, scanty feces, mushy rumen, tachypnea, gradual reduction in milk y...

Hidden in plain sight - Survival consequences of baseline symptom burden in women with recurrent ovarian cancer
CONCLUSION: Pts with ROC reported high SB prior to starting palliative chemotherapy, similar among PRR-ROC and PPS-ROC≥3. High SB was strongly associated with early progression and death. SB should be actively managed and used to stratify patients in clinical trials. Clinical trials should measure and report symptom burden and the impact of treatment on symptom control.PMID:38412736 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.02.025 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 941: Research Progress in Traditional Applications, Phytochemistry, Pharmacology, and Safety Evaluation of Cynomorium songaricum
This article summarizes and categorizes research on the uses, phytochemical characteristics, pharmacological activities, and toxicity of ethnic medicine, with the aim of establishing a solid foundation and proposing new avenues for exploring and developing potential applications of CSR. So far, a total of 98 compounds have been isolated and identified from CSR, including flavonoids, terpenes, steroids, and other compounds. It is worth noting that flavonoids and polysaccharides have significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, these compounds also show good application prospects in anti-tumor, anti...

Light-chain proximal tubulopathy: a retrospective study from a single Chinese nephrology referral center
Conclusions: This is the first case series report of LCPT in four different pathological types in northern China. Clone-targeted chemotherapy may help preserve the kidney function in these patients.PMID:38374684 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2023.2283587 (Source: Renal Failure)

Relation of Early Mobility With Gastrointestinal Symptoms and Pain in Patients Undergoing Abdominal Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The results of the study showed that increased mobility had a positive relationship with the reduction of gastrointestinal symptoms and pain. Therefore, interventions directed toward increasing patient mobility should be performed.PMID:38340095 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.11.001 (Source: Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing)

Probiotics and Prebiotics in the Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Narrative Review
J Integr Neurosci. 2024 Jan 22;23(1):20. doi: 10.31083/j.jin2301020.ABSTRACTMore than half of the patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have gastrointestinal (GI) comorbidities, such as constipation, indigestion, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Recent studies suggest prescribing probiotics and prebiotics in ASD could relieve GI disturbances and behavioral issues. This narrative review generalizes the research progress on probiotic and prebiotic therapies for ASD over the past 5 years and further discusses the underlying mechanisms of interaction between probiotics and prebiotics with ASD. Preliminary evidence has demo...
