Integrating Ultrasound and Histopathological Analysis to Investigate Placental Abnormalities and Blood Flow in Uteroplacental Insufficiency: A Comprehensive Study
ConclusionIn pregnancies complicated by uteroplacental insufficiency, macroscopic and microscopic placental abnormalities were prevalent. Conditions such as villitis, intervillositis, deciduitis and abruption showed noteworthy differences between the HIGH flow and AEDF/REDF groups can be used as indicators for postpartum histopathological examination whether delivery occurred timely or not as per findings on color Doppler. Inflammatory changes might be more related to labor events than being indicative of FGR. (Source: The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India)

The Potential Prognostic Impact of Associated Peritoneal Carcinomatosis in Patients with Stage II and III Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Who Had Upfront Complete Cytoreduction
ConclusionThe presence of peritoneal nodules had a statistically significant impact on overall survival and incidence of postoperative death. There was no statistically significant prognostic impact of PCI in stage II and III EOC patients who had complete cytoreduction. (Source: The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India)

Assessment of Otolith Function with Subjective Visual Vertical Test in Sensorineural Hearing Loss: An Analytical Cross - Sectional Study
AbstractThe inner ear is responsible for balance and auditory function. Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) affects auditory function across various age groups. Vestibular apparatus, particularly the otolith organ can also be affected in cases of SNHL because of the close proximity of the otolith organs with the cochlea inside the bony labyrinth. The otolith organs can be assessed with Subjective Visual vertical test (SVV), which is a simple, rapid, non-invasive test with high sensitivity and specificity. Present study was conducted with the objective to compare the SVV parameters between normal and SNHL patients and to corr...

Artificial neural network to predict post-operative hypocalcemia following total thyroidectomy
AbstractThe primary objective of this study was to use artificial neural network (ANN) to predict the post operative hypocalcemia and severity of hypocalcemia following total thyroidectomy. The secondary objective was to determine the weightage for the factors predicting the hypocalcemia with the ANN. A single center, retrospective case series included treatment-naive patients undergoing total thyroidectomy for benign or malignant thyroid nodules from January 2020 to December 2022. Artificial neural network (ANN) - Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) used to predict post-operative hypocalcemia in ANN. Multivariate analysis was use...

Solitary Angiokeratoma in the Oral Cavity: A Critical Literature Review and Report of a New Case
This study aimed to perform an integrative review of solitary angiokeratomas cases in the oral cavity and to report a new case in a 39-year-old man. A modified PECOS strategy was used using PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science databases, and the reference lists of the selected articles. Case reports of oral solitary angiokeratoma published in English, Portuguese, and Spanish languages with histopathological diagnosis without the presence of systemic disorders were included. Of the 51 articles identified, 18 met the eligibility criteria. Solitary angiokeratomas have a slight male predilection, with a peak incidence in the...

Cochlear Implantation by Veria Technique in Abnormal Cochlea: Our Experience
This study describes the clinical profile, operative findings, surgical technique, type of implant and complications encountered in implantation of abnormal cochlea by the transcanal (veria) technique in a tertiary care centre. This is a retrospective study done amongst 337 patients who underwent cochlear implantation by veria technique between January 2013 to August 2023. Based on pre-operative imaging with high-resolution computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging the cochleovestibular malformations in this study were classified according to Sennaroglu classification and the cochlear ossification was graded from ...

Salivary gland tumors: an audit from a tertiary care centre in Northern India
AbstractSalivary gland tumors are relatively rare and can exhibit various clinical behaviors. The study aims to understand the natural history, pathology, diagnostic workup, and treatment strategies for these tumors to improve patient outcomes. The audit included patients with salivary gland tumors detected through radiology or cytology. Patients underwent surgery, with some receiving adjuvant treatment. Demographic information, treatment interventions, and survival outcomes were analyzed using SPSS software. A total 89 as malignant salivart gland tumours were audited Malignant tumors were predominantly found in the paroti...

Surreptitious Area of Middle Ear - the Sinus Tympani
AbstractSinus tympani is one of the hidden space in the retrotympanic area of middle ear which is commonly invaded by cholesteatoma and known for recidivism. Conventional surgical approaches sometimes fail to access deep sinuses and eradicate the disease. The aim of our study was to measure endoscopic depth of Sinus tympani in Indian Population. Total of 30 patients underwent mastoid exploration and intraoperatively depth of Sinus Tympani was measured using a 0.5  mm calibrated probe with 30 degree rigid Hopkins endoscope. Endoscopic depth in the present study ranges between 2.5 and 5.5 mm. It was higher in right ear in ...

Unveiling a Nasal Enigma: Pleomorphic Adenoma of Nasal Septum Causing Chronic Obstruction and Epistaxis
AbstractTumors in the nasal septum originating from salivary glands are uncommon, and among them, pleomorphic adenomas represent a distinctive manifestation. This case study explores a female in her early thirties with a right-sided nasal mass, nasal obstruction, and intermittent bleeding. CT imaging revealed a lesion arising from the nasal septum with bony erosion. Histopathology confirmed pleomorphic adenoma, emphasizing the importance of thorough clinical evaluation, imaging, and biopsy for accurate diagnosis. Pleomorphic adenomas, typically found in major salivary glands, can occur in the respiratory tract, presenting ch...
