< em > Microbacterium abyssi < /em > sp. nov. and < em > Microbacterium limosum < /em > sp. nov., two new species of the genus < em > Microbacterium < /em > , isolated from deep-sea sediment samples
Int J Syst Evol Microbiol. 2024 Mar;74(3). doi: 10.1099/ijsem.0.006299.ABSTRACTTwo Gram-positive, non-motile, short rod-shaped actinomycete strains, designated as A18JL241T and Y20T, were isolated from deep-sea sediment samples collected from the Southwest Indian Ocean and Western Pacific Ocean, respectively. Both of the isolates were able to grow within the temperature range of 5-40 °C, NaCl concentration range of 0-7 % (w/v) and at pH 6.0-12.0. The two most abundant cellular fatty acids of both strains were anteiso-C15 : 0 and anteiso-C17 : 0. The major polar lipid contents of the two strains were phosphatidylglycerol, ...

WSV2023 - The second meeting of the world society for virology: One health - One world - One virology
Discussions further explored SARS-CoV-2 RNA replicons as vaccine candidates, SARS-CoV-2 in humans and animals, and the significance of plant viruses in the 'One Health' paradigm. The presence of the presidents from three virology societies, namely the American, Indian, and Korean Societies for Virology, highlighted the event's significance. Additionally, past president of the American Society for Virology (ASV), formally declared the partnership between ASV and WSV during the conference.PMID:38527382 | DOI:10.1016/j.virol.2024.110049 (Source: Virology)

Indicators of Malnutrition Among School-Going Children in an Eastern State (West Bengal) of India
This study identified determinants of malnutrition among school children in West Bengal, India. A total of 896 children aged between 4 and 13 years in eight districts were evaluated. BMI, weight, and height-for-age z-scores were used to categorize the stages of malnutrition. The study results revealed that the average height of the boys and girls was as per the standards set by the National Council of Health Sciences. Body mass index of the children ranged between 14.4 and 21.42 kg/m2, and stunting was 56.77%. Age and stunting were positively correlated in 5- to 10-year-old children. The most common deficiency was of fluor...

Estrogen Receptor 1 Gene Polymorphism and its Association with Idiopathic Short Stature in North Indian Population
CONCLUSION: Our study showed that CC genotype at rs6557177 and TT genotype of rs543650 of ESR1 constitutes risk factor for developing ISS in North Indian children. In the future, these findings may lead to a better understanding of the SNPs associated with ISS susceptibility.PMID:38523344 | DOI:10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2024.2023-11-7 (Source: JCRPE Journal of Clinical Research in Pediatric Endocrinology)

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus Diversity and Reassortment, Pakistan, 2017-2020
Emerg Infect Dis. 2024 Apr;30(4):654-664. doi: 10.3201/eid3004.231155.ABSTRACTSporadic cases and outbreaks of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) have been documented across Pakistan since 1976; however, data regarding the diversity of CCHF virus (CCHFV) in Pakistan is sparse. We whole-genome sequenced 36 CCHFV samples collected from persons infected in Pakistan during 2017-2020. Most CCHF cases were from Rawalpindi (n = 10), followed by Peshawar (n = 7) and Islamabad (n = 4). Phylogenetic analysis revealed the Asia-1 genotype was dominant, but 4 reassorted strains were identified. Strains with reassorted medium gene se...

Structural and sequence analysis of the RPO30 gene of sheeppox and goatpox viruses from India
Vet Q. 2024 Dec;44(1):1-12. doi: 10.1080/01652176.2024.2331524. Epub 2024 Mar 25.ABSTRACTSheeppox and goatpox are transboundary viral diseases of sheep and goats that cause significant economic losses to small and marginal farmers worldwide, including India. Members of the genus Capripoxvirus (CaPV), namely Sheeppox virus (SPPV), Goatpox virus (GTPV), and Lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV), are antigenically similar, and species differentiation can only be accomplished using molecular approaches. The present study aimed to understand the molecular epidemiology and host specificity of SPPV and GTPV circulating in India through...
