Nanocellulose-stabilized nanocomposites for effective Hg(II) removal and detection: a comprehensive review
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Apr 15. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-33105-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMercury pollution, with India ranked as the world's second-largest emitter, poses a critical environmental and public health challenge and underscores the need for rigorous research and effective mitigation strategies. Nanocellulose is derived from cellulose, the most abundant natural polymer on earth, and stands out as an excellent choice for mercury ion remediation due to its remarkable adsorption capacity, which is attributed to its high specific surface area and abundant functional groups, enabling efficient Hg(II) i...

Exploring the immunomodulatory potential of Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) in the treatment of invasive ductal carcinoma
AbstractBacopa monnieri (L) Wettst, commonly known as Brahmi, stands as a medicinal plant integral to India ’s traditional medical system, Ayurveda, where it is recognized as a “medhya rasayana”—a botanical entity believed to enhance intellect and mental clarity. Its significant role in numerous Ayurvedic formulations designed to address conditions such as anxiety, memory loss, impaired cognition, and diminished concentration underscores its prominence. Beyond its application in cognitive health, Brahmi has historically been employed in Ayurvedic practices for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, including arthr...

Utility of Microvascular Reconstruction in Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery During Complex Resections and Emergency Salvage
AbstractMajor gastrointestinal surgical resections and subsequent reconstruction can occasionally need arterial or venous resection, can encounter variant anatomy, or may lead to injury to vessels. These can lead to arterial and/or venous insufficiency of viscera like the stomach, liver, colon, or spleen. Left unaddressed, these can lead to, partial or total, organ ischemia or necrosis. This can trigger a cascade of systemic clinical complications resulting in significant morbidity or even mortality. The aim of this case series is to highlight the utility of microvascular plastic surgical principles and practices in counte...
