Oleanolic acid (OA) is a naturally occurring triterpenoid that possesses antitumor activity against several tumor cell lines. However, the potential mechanism underlying OA-induced thyroid carcinoma cell death is poorly understood. We investigated the biological functions of OA by performing migration, invasion, colony formation, and apoptosis assays on SW579 cells. Forkhead box A1 (FOXA1) expression was used to predict poor prognosis in patients with thyroid carcinoma among the TCGA samples from the UALCAN and gene expression profiling interactive analysis databases. Western blot was used to detect protein expression leve...

Authors: Li X, Li Q, Jin X, Guo H, Li Y Abstract Certain long non-coding (lnc)RNAs have been reported to serve important roles in the genesis and progression of thyroid cancer (TC). Recent studies have demonstrated that the expression of lncRNA H19 is upregulated in TC tissues; however, knowledge of the associated molecular mechanisms is limited. Therefore, the present study aimed to clarify the roles of H19 in TC. The mRNA expression of lncRNA H19 in TC tissues was determined using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis, and the effects of H19 knockdown on cell viability and apoptosi...

ConclusionsThis meta-analysis did not suggest any increased risk of cancers associated with GLP-1RAs use in T2DM. The reduction in the risk of overall cancer associated with albiglutide needs to be examined further.

Abstract CONTEXT: Nearly one-third of all thyroid cancers are ≤ 1 cm. OBJECTIVE: Determine diagnostic pathways for microcarcinomas versus larger cancers. DESIGN/SETTING/PATIENT PARTICIPANTS: Patients from Georgia and Los Angeles Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registries with differentiated thyroid cancer diagnosed in 2014-2015 were surveyed (response rate 63%). Survey data were linked to SEER data on tumor and treatment characteristics. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: method of nodule discovery; reason for thyroid surgery. ...

Valeriano Leite Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare tumour but also one of the most lethal malignancies. Therapeutic modalities have usually been limited, but clinical trials with new drugs are now being implemented. The aims of this study were to analyse the clinical presentation, therapeutic modalities and independent prognostic factors for survival. We also reviewed the most recent literature on novel ATC therapies. We performed a retrospective analysis of 79 patients diagnosed between 2000 and 2018. Variables with impact on survival were identified using the Cox proportional-hazard regression model. At pres...

Conclusions: In progressive HCC, several treatment options outside or inside clinical trials are available. WGS of metastatic tumors might direct the timing of therapy. Unlike other cancers, the absence of RAS variants seems to provide insufficient justification of single-agent panitumumab administration in HCC cases harboring a near-homozygous genome.

This study aims to characterize dysregulated immune-associated and cancer-associated genes in three PTC subtypes to explore how the interplay between cancer and immune processes causes differential prognosis. RNA-sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were used to identify dysregulated genes in each variant. The dysregulation profiles of the subtypes were compared using functional pathways clustering and correlations to relevant clinical variables, genomic alterations, and microRNA regulation. We discovered that the dysregulation profiles of classical PTC (CPTC) and the tall cell variant (TCPTC) are similar an...
