[Combination of TMS and MRT to understand neurological diseases.] Nervenarzt. 2014 May 23; Authors: Hummel FC Abstract Modern neuroimaging techniques, such as structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are increasingly used in the neuroscientific research of neurological disorders, such as stroke, tinnitus and movement disorders. These methods offer a non-invasive approach and especially in combination, not only the opportunity to add to the pathophysiological understanding of these disorders but also to provide information about the functional recovery and the natural course of the disease in a predictive way. Based on such knowledge therapeutic approaches can be adapted in a patient-tailored fashion to achieve the best therapeutic effects. Furthermore, these methods might provide additional non-invasive information for neurosurgical interventions reducing perioperative interventional risks.In the present article these aspects will be discussed with a focus on the combination of MRI and TMS especially addressed for the topic of recovery from stroke. Conclusions: The combination of 10 TCM symptoms, once onset occurred, including hemiplegia, restlessness, hemianesthesia, short breath, headache, constipation, night sweat, tinnitus, thirsty, and gurgling with sputum, may affect the recovery of motor dysfunction. Carotid-Cavernous sinus fistula (CCF) caused by a ruptured aneurysm of persistent primitive trigeminal artery (PPTA) is exceptionally rare. Herein, we reported the case of a 64-year-old female who presented with headache, pulsatile tinnitus, and diplopia. Angiography showed a PPTA and CCF. Three-dimensional digital subtraction angiograms revealed a direct shunt between the PPTA aneurysm and the left cavernous sinus. The trigeminal carotid fistula was successfully treated with detachable coils and Onyx, and the PPTA was preserved.

We report a case of a 49-year-old industrial vehicles mechanic who was projected to the ground by the explosion of the tire of a heavy truck he was inflating.
