Abstract Immunoblotting is a ubiquitous immunological technique that aids in detecting and quantifying proteins (including those of lower abundance) and their posttranslational modifications such as phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitylation, and sumoylation. The technique involves electrophoretically separating proteins on an SDS-PAGE gel, transferring them onto a PVDF (or nitrocellulose) membrane and probing with specific antibodies. Here we describe an immunoblotting technique for detecting cellular phosphohistidine, a labile posttranslational modification, by optimizing experimental conditions such that the ...

In this study, 2 mol% Co(NO3)2•6H2O was used as the sintering aid, GDC interlayers with 2 mol% Co(NO3)2•6H2O (Co-GDC) were sintered at 1150 °C, 1200 °C, 1250 °C and 1350 °C, respectively. The Co-GDC interlayer sintered at 1150 °C was porous, but only closed pores existed when the Co-GDC interlayers were sintering above 1250 °C. The initial ohmic resistances of the cells with Co-GDC interlayers sintered at 1150 °C, 1250 °C and 1350 °C were 0.259, 0.266 and 0.299 Ω cm2. After the cells running for 100 h, the ohmic resistances were 0.289, 0.262 an...

AbstractObjectivePosterior circulation ischemic stroke (PCiS) constitutes 20 –30% of ischemic stroke cases. Detailed information about differences between PCiS and anterior circulation ischemic stroke (ACiS) remains scarce. Such information might guide clinical decision making and prevention strategies. We studied risk factors and ischemic stroke subtypes in PCiS vs. ACiS and lesion location on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in PCiS.MethodsOut of 3,301 MRIs from 12 sites in the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Stroke Genetics Network (SiGN), we included 2,381 cases with acute DWI lesi...

ConclusionsDespite being on ART, a significant proportion of HIV/HBV-coinfected individuals present HBV viremia. Characterization of factors that are associated with this finding may help professionals provide better management to these patients.

As part of the IeDEA multiregional consortium, we described growth evolution during adolescence for APH on antiretroviral therapy (ART). METHODS: We included data from sub-Saharan Africa, the Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean, Central and South America regions collected betw...

Publication date: Available online 8 November 2019Source: Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck SurgeryAuthor(s): Ashley P. O'Connell FersterThe use of lasers in laryngology has evolved over the last several decades. With improving optics, instrumentation, and applications for treatment, lasers are now routinely used during laryngeal surgery performed in both the operating room and clinic settings. A variety of laser types, including carbon dioxide (CO2), potassium-titanyl-phosphate (KTP), and pulsed-dye lasers, are used to treat an array of benign laryngeal lesions. Otolaryngologists can now consider the us...

Authors: Budiman B, Hartantri Y, Susandi E, Agustanti N Abstract BACKGROUND: antiretroviral drug-related liver injury (ARLI) is a drug-induced hepatotoxicity due to antiretroviral medication (ARV). It commonly disrupts compliance to treatment and causes treatment discontinuation in HIV-infected patients. Several studies have been conducted on predisposing factors for ARLI including studies on body mass index (BMI) and cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4). The association of BMI and CD4 with ARLI remains controversial as previous studies have demonstrated different outcomes. Our study was conducted to identify the ass...

CONCLUSION: these results indicate the emergence of TDR among ART-naive individuals in Buleleng, Bali. This issue warrants serious consideration because TDR may hamper treatment success and reduce ART efficacy among newly diagnosed individuals. Continuous surveillance with a larger sample size is necessary to monitor TDR among ART-naive individuals. PMID: 31699942 [PubMed - in process]

In conclusion, the author of this paper mentioned that immunization gap needs to be handle systematically. Immunization data released on 2017 showed that complete immunization was given only to 20% of targeted group, while almost 75% were either unvaccinated or unknown. During the outbreak of diphteria in Indonesia, the WHO also reported several countries with similar problem such as Bangladesh, Haiti and Yamen. It was shown that a coordination between doctors in clinic/hospital with public health officer to conduct an epidemiological investigation, in conjunction with giving prophylaxis and assuring the logistics of anti-...
