Evaluating the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of web-based indicated prevention of major depression: design of a randomised controlled trial

DiscussionThis is one of the first randomised controlled trials that examines the effect of an indicated guided self-help web-based intervention on the incidence of major depression. If shown to be effective, the intervention will contribute to reducing the disease burden due to MDD in the general population.Trial registration: German Clinical Trial Registration DRKS00004709.

This study therefore sought to investigate whether the autism/transgender overlap confers an increased risk of depression or anxiety. An online study of 727 individuals revealed a substantial overlap between transgender identity and autism, with increased autistic traits found in trans men compared to trans women. Depression and anxiety were highest in autistic-trans individuals, but no superadditive effect was observed. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to the wider healthcare system.

CONCLUSIONS: Prevalence and comorbidity of major MH conditions is high in veterans referred for geriatric MH services. Future work will examine challenges faced by non-specialty providers in caring for older veterans, with the goal of developing targeted educational and clinical interventions to better address aging veterans' MH needs. Conclusion: CBT was effective in decreasing the level of PTSD and anxiety in the mothers of preterm infants. Due to the small number of included studies and the small sample size, clinical trials with large sample sizes and a low risk of bias are recommended to provide evidence for the implementation of interventions affecting psychological distress in the mothers of preterm infants in clinical settings. AbstractBackgroundTo date, some factors associated with quality of sleep in patients with PCOS have been identified. Previous studies have mainly focused on limited psychological variables related to sleep disorder without evaluating them in a comprehensive framework.ObjectiveThe aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of predictive factors on the sleep quality of PCOS patients using structural equation modeling (SEM).Material and methodsThe present study is a case control that is done in an infertility clinic in Hormozgan, Iran. The case group (n = 201) consisted of women with PCOS and the contro...

AbstractThe literature assumes that activating patients in the treatment is associated with positive health-related outcomes, such as clinical indicators in the normal range, high medication adherence, and low emergency department utilization. In the cardiac population, patient activation, that is the patient ’s knowledge, skills, confidence, and behaviors needed for managing one’s own health and health care, has been less investigated. In addition, limited attention has been given to the role of the partner as an informal caregiver. However, the patient in the care process is rarely alone, and the p artner may...

AbstractSupporting Our Valued Adolescents (SOVA) is a web-based technology intervention designed to increase depression and anxiety treatment uptake by adolescents in the context of an anonymous peer community with an accompanying website for parents. With a goal of informing the design of a hybrid effectiveness-implementation randomized controlled trial, we conducted a pre-implementation study in two primary care practices to guide implementation strategy development. We conducted focus groups with primary care providers (PCPs) at three different timepoints with PCPs (14 total) from two community practices. A baseline sur...

This study mainly investigated altered functional connectivity (FC) of the amygdala in CD patients during resting-state. Magnetic resonance imaging scans were acquired from 42 CD patients and 35 healthy controls (HCs). Whole amygdala bilaterally were selected as regions o f interest (ROIs). Voxel-based morphometry and FC methods were applied to investigate the differences of structure or intrinsic connectivity of the amygdala between the two groups, separately. Pearson correlations were performed to explore relationships between the clinical characteristics and neuro imaging findings in CD patients. Based on the whole...
