IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 7061: Downside: The Perpetrator of Violence in the Representations of Social and Health Professionals
ata Di Napoli Gender-based violence is a widespread phenomenon and pandemic that affects women’s lives. Many interventions have been activated for perpetrators, but the dropout rate is still high. In order to draw up guidelines for responsibly and sustainably dealing with the phenomenon, this study is aimed at investigating the professionals’ perception of the perpetrator as a useful element in designing innovative intervention policies. Open interviews were carried out with welfare and health professionals and the Grounded Theory Methodology was used to analyze the collected data. These res...

Outcome following local excision of T1 anal cancers —a systematic review
ConclusionThe current literature on outcome following local excision of T1 anal cancers consists predominantly of smaller, retrospective, and heterogenous studies. Overall 5-year survival is acceptable, but worse than following chemo-radiation therapy. However, local excision seems to have no or only few minor complications. Recurrence rates are high. Therefore, a thorough follow-up program is needed when performing local excision as primary treatment for T1 SCCA. There is an evident need for further studies. IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 4602: Resilience Scale Psychometric Study. Adaptation to the Spanish Population in Nursing Students
te;l Juárez-Vela Nursing students and professionals are exposed to highly stressful clinical situations. However, when confronted with stress, which is exacerbated by academic and professional situations, there is a great disparity between those who do not know how to respond suitably to the demands from patients or teachers due to a lack of competence and personal resistance, and those who are more resilient and develop a greater range of strengths. This research aims to analyse the validity and psychometric characteristics of a questionnaire on resilience adapted to Spanish nursing bachelor’s degree stud...

Editorial comment
Erectile dysfunction recognition dates back to Ancient Greece, praying to Aphrodite. Even the Bible mentions retribution for adultery by punishing Abimelech with impotence.1 Hippocrates described erectile dysfunction as an imbalance of humors. Still, it was Leonardo Da Vinci (1452 –1519) who first clarified these classical descriptions by observing the requirement of blood flow from executed men's resulting erections after hanging.2 However, the teachings of Hippocrates pervaded Western medical thought until well into the Renaissance. A Novel Pseudomonas aeruginosa Virulence Factor Predicts CLAD and Death after Lung Transplantation
Gram -ve bacteria have recently been found to induce O-antigen-specific IgG2 and IgA ‘inhibitory’ antibodies (iAb) in the host which are not only impotent but block complement-mediated killing. Our group has demonstrated the clinical benefit of plasmapheresis in patients infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Psa) strains which have deployed this virulence factor. Here we assesse d the prevalence and clinical impact of iAb in a large lung transplant cohort. (Source: The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation)

Efficacy of Leuprorelide acetate (Eligard®) in daily practice in Brazil: a retrospective study with depot formulations in patients with prostate cancer
ABSTRACT Introduction: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the mainstay of therapy for advanced prostate cancer. Studies addressing the efficacy of different depot formulations of long acting luteinizing hormone releasing hormone agonists in the Brazilian population are lacking. We aimed to compare the efficacy of three schedules of leuprolide acetate in lowering PSA in a real world population. Materials and Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients with prostate cancer seen at our institution between January 2007 and July 2018. We analyzed patients treated with long-acting leuprolide acetate and grouped these...

[Urology goes electric-electrotherapy : Modern therapies in the treatment of modern diseases-examples from urology].
u H Abstract The significance of electricity for medicine in the modern industrial age should not be underestimated. Particularly in connection with neurasthenia, electrotherapeutic approaches also experienced a boom for domestic use. Thus, electrotherapy reached urology just as it was becoming established as a medical specialty. We analyzed urological manuals and textbooks and objects in the W. P. Didusch Center for Urologic History and the Museum zur Geschichte der Urologie in Berlin to present the wide range of indications for electrotherapy in the emerging field of urology from impotence to urethral ...

Evaluation of erectile potency and radiation dose to the penile bulb using image guided radiotherapy in the CHHiP trial.
This study aimed to generate PB dose constraints based on dose-volume histograms (DVHs) in patients treated with prostate radiotherapy, and to identify clinical and dosimetric parameters that predict the risk of ED post prostate radiotherapy. Materials and methods: Penile bulb DVHs were generated for 276 patients treated within the randomised IGRT substudy of the multicentre randomised trial, CHHiP. Incidence of ED in relation to dose and randomised IGRT groups were evaluated using Wilcoxon rank sum, Chi-squared test and atlases of complication incidence. Youden index was used to find dose-volume constraints that disc...

The pathophysiology and therapy of erectile dysfunction in a newly discovered treatise by Wolfgang Reichart (1486 –circa 1547)
The pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction was highly contested in Renaissance medicine due to the believe in witches and incantations.1,2 A newly-found treatise by the physician Wolfgang Reichart (1486 –circa 1547) challenges the contemporary view that bewitchment as a cause of impotence defies any natural explanation. Reichart studied in Tübingen and worked as a town physician of Ulm since 1512. Nearly 600 letters of his letters are preserved, but only half of them are edited. The letters are not primarily medical in nature except one casuistry on melancholy and circa 60 letters which can be considered episto...

Patient data hiding into ECG signal using watermarking in transform domain
AbstractElectrocardiogram (ECG) watermarking provides secure communication of patient information lies in a 1D- ECG signal. The primary challenge in ECG watermarking is the deterioration of an ECG signal which causes the loss and impotence to extract patient information. This paper proposes a wavelet method based watermarking scheme for patient information hiding in the ECG as a QR image. Here, we first convert the 1D-ECG signal to 2D-ECG image using the Pan –Tompkins algorithm. We use a wavelet transform to decompose 2D-ECG image. Wavelet analysis can capture the subtle underlying information of the ECG. Then we fur...
