Single ‐dose ibuprofen induced Stevens–Johnson Syndrome
We present a case of a 45-year-old woman who developed SJS following a single dose of ibuprofen. Despite its rarity, this case underscores the importance of heightened vigilance in healthcare and public awareness regarding the potential risks of commonly used medications. Prompt recognition of SJS symptoms and immediate medical intervention are crucial for patient outcomes. Healthcare providers should exercise caution when prescribing ibuprofen, particu larly in patients with a history of adverse drug reactions. This case emphasizes the need for ongoing monitoring, patient education, and informed decision-making to promote...

Potentiometric sensing of ibuprofen over ferric oxide doped chitosan grafted polypyrrole-based electrode
Int J Biol Macromol. 2024 Apr 13:131598. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2024.131598. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present work demonstrates the correlation between structure, properties, and self-sensing protocols of in situ prepared ferric oxide doped grafted copolymer composite, comprised of ferric oxide, chitosan, and polypyrrole (α-Fe2O3-en-CHIT-g-PPy) for residual ibuprofen present in natural and artificial samples. The chemical structure, morphology, functionality, and physio-mechanical properties of the composite were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), Raman spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD...

Rapid identification of potential nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug overdose-induced liver toxicity and prediction of follow-up exposure: Integrating bioanalytical and population pharmacokinetic assay
Biomed Chromatogr. 2024 Apr 15:e5877. doi: 10.1002/bmc.5877. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most frequently used drugs that can cause liver toxicity. The aim of this study was to integrate bioanalytical and population pharmacokinetic (PopPK) assay to rapidly screen and quantify the concentrations of NSAIDs in plasma and monitor clinical safety. A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed for the simultaneous quantification of acetaminophen (APAP), flurbiprofen (FLB), aspirin (ASP), and ibuprofen (IBP), four commonly used NSAIDs....

Environmental risk assessment of selected pharmaceuticals in hospital wastewater in nothern vietnam
This study investigated the occurrence of selected pharmaceuticals in influent and effluent of wastewater treatment plants of 12 hospitals in Hanoi and 3 northern cities of Vietnam during dry and rainy seasons. In addition, environmental risk of pharmaceuticals in both hospital influents and effluents were evaluated based on risk quotients (RQs). Nine selected pharmaceutical compounds including sulfamethoxazole (SMX), naproxen (NPX), diclofenac (DCF), ibuprofen (IBU), acetaminophen (ACT), carbamazepine (CBM), iopromide (IOP), atenolol (ATN), and caffeine (CAF) were frequently detected in most influent and effluent wastewat...

Effect of an intravenous acetaminophen/ibuprofen fixed-dose combination on postoperative opioid consumption and pain after video-assisted thoracic surgery: a double-blind randomized controlled trial
ConclusionPerioperative administration of acetaminophen/ibuprofen significantly decreased analgesic needs in patients undergoing VATS, providing an effective postoperative pain management strategy, and potentially minimizing the need for stronger analgesics. (Source: Surgical Endoscopy)

< em > Ge-gen < /em > decoction alleviates primary dysmenorrhoea symptoms in a rat model
CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study suggest that GGD alleviates PD in rats by suppressing the COX-2-mediated release of PGE2 and PGF2α, modulating the ERα/ERK1/2/COX-2 pathway, and increasing β-EP content. These results provide insights into the potential mechanisms of GGD in treating PD and support its further investigation as an alternative therapy for this condition.PMID:38594870 | DOI:10.1080/01443615.2024.2337691 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

Effects of total saikosaponins on CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 in HepaRG cells
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Mar 21;27(5):217. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12505. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTTotal saikosaponins (TSS) form a group of chemically and biologically active components that can be extracted from Bupleurum, with reported antidepressive, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antiendotoxin, antitumor, anti-pulmonary fibrosis and anti-gastric ulcer effects. Bupleurum or TSS is frequently utilized in clinical practice alongside other medications (such as entecavir, lamivudine, compound paracetamol and amantadine hydrochloride capsules), leading to an increased risk of drug-drug interactions. The cytochrome P450 (CYP) fam...

Recent Advancements in Refashioning of NSAIDs and their Derivatives as Anticancer Candidates
Curr Pharm Des. 2024 Apr 5. doi: 10.2174/0113816128304230240327044201. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInflammation is critical to the formation and development of tumors and is closely associated with cancer. Therefore, addressing inflammation and the mediators that contribute to the inflammatory process may be a useful strategy for both cancer prevention and treatment. Tumor predisposition can be attributed to inflammation. It has been demonstrated that NSAIDs can modify the tumor microenvironment by enhancing apoptosis and chemosensitivity and reducing cell migration. There has been a recent rise in interest in drug repos...
