Questions regarding fellowship prospects
Hello everyone, I have posted here in the past. Went through a long road and a lot of hard work but I am now a categorical general surgery resident. Managed to do well my prelim year, and with the support of my previous program and my other mentors, am now a PGY2 at a newer program and loving my job more each day. Now I am setting my sights a bit further ahead. My interests primarily lie in surgical oncology but I enjoyed my pediatric surgery rotation immensely as well. I have managed to... Is it okay to be relax during my gap year before medical school? Parents worry that it will harm my work ethic when medical school starts. Need advice
For my whole life, I have never really had a long "break". Every summer was work or study and then 2 weeks where I follow my parents on a sightseeing trip. My parents never really believed in the concept of a "break" hence I never really had a summer break. I have currently been accepted to multiple US MD medical schools so far and am currently waiting to hear back from my dream school in March. During this time, I have taken on a job as a MCAT instructor where I work 4 days a week. Asides... Is it okay to be relax during my gap year before medical school? Starting surgery rotation
hello, I need some advice, I am starting my surgery rotation in less than a week and I am worried. I tend to get dizzy from standing in long hours and am worried about some of the procedures. It's not the sight of blood, but standing bent over that gets me dizzy. I can do three to five hours fine, but, one of my friends just did a 11 hour procedure. Should I discuss this with my resident or the nurses? I don't want to spend the next 6 weeks, being the fainter in... Starting surgery rotation (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Timing for Letters of Recommendation
Hello! I have set my sights on becoming an optometrist for a while now. I am currently finishing my 2nd semester as a sophomore at UCBerkeley. I am also a part-time receptionist at an optometry clinic nearby and I have been working there for roughly half a year now. Coincidentally, the doctors who work at that clinic also teach at the Berkeley school of Optometry. I feel incredibly lucky that I was able to get this job, but I do not know how long I can keep up the balance between work and... Timing for Letters of Recommendation (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Two F's ruined my chances?
by CJ11B (Posted Thu Jan 28, 2016 7:24 pm)Hello all, I've been searching around here for awhile and figured it was time to join up. I have a question that I hope somebody can help me with, and I'm sorry I know its been asked many times. Here's my story, I got out of the Army 3 years ago and went straight to my states university. I was majoring in business (aka didn't know what I wanted to do haha) and ended up dropping out that first semester. I hate making excuses but I was having trouble adjusting to civilian life even though I couldn't admit it at the time. Long story short I finally realized what I wanted to do and hav...
