Late Migration of Fully Deployed Left Main Coronary Stent into Aortic Root: A Late Complication and Its Surgical Management
We report a rare case of migration of the left main coronary stent into the aortic root, which happened 5 months after the procedure and was treated by its partial removal through aortotomy along with surgical revascularization. The patient was discharged 5 days later, after an uneventful hospital stay.PMID:38607879 | DOI:10.4103/aca.aca_139_23 (Source: Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia)

RNF20 Reduces Cell Proliferation and Warburg Effect by Promoting NLRP3 Ubiquitination in Liver Cancer
J Environ Pathol Toxicol Oncol. 2024;43(3):69-80. doi: 10.1615/JEnvironPatholToxicolOncol.2024053012.ABSTRACTThe present study explored that the effects and its possible mechanisms of ring finger protein 20 (RNF20) in Postoperative survival rate of liver cancer in clinical. All the serum samples were collected from our hospital. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and microarray analysis, and RNA pull down assay were used in this study. We found that the serum RNF20 mRNA expression level in patients with liver cancer were down-regulated. Postoperative survival rate of RNF20 high expression was higher than that of ...

Crafting British medicine in the Empire: the establishment of medical schools in India and Canada, 1763-1837
Med Hist. 2024 Apr 12:1-18. doi: 10.1017/mdh.2024.6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn the early nineteenth century, medical schools became a growing means of regulating medicine in the British Empire, both in the metropole and in two colonies: India and Canada. By examining the establishment of medical schools in Calcutta, Bombay, Madras, Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto between the end of the Seven Years' War and the beginning of the Victorian era, this article argues that the rise of the British Empire was a key factor in the gradual replacement of private medical apprenticeships with institutional medical education. Social Support and Spousal Relationship Quality Improves Responsiveness among Anxious Mothers
Child Psychiatry Hum Dev. 2024 Apr 13. doi: 10.1007/s10578-024-01702-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMaternal responsiveness, a mother's ability to consistently identify infant cues and then act on them, is critical for healthy child development. A woman's social support and spousal relationship may affect responsiveness to an infant, especially among mothers with anxiety. We assessed how social support and spousal relationship quality is associated with responsiveness among anxious mothers, and if postpartum depression (PPD) moderated these associations. Cross-sectional data were collected from 2019 to 2022 in a public h...

Case report: The role of hypertension retinopathy graduation in the management of systemic cardiovascular disease
J Family Med Prim Care. 2024 Feb;13(2):787-791. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_1772_22. Epub 2024 Mar 6.ABSTRACTModerate to severe hypertensive retinopathies are more likely to correlate with uncontrolled blood pressure in all ages. Mild microvascular changes are expected with natural aging and are therefore more concerning in patients younger than 40. Risk assessment is subsequently determined based on blood pressure measurements and patient symptoms. The goal of this paper is to discuss current opinions regarding the role of grading hypertensive retinopathy in the risk assessment of systemic cardiovascular disease in the conte...

The role of viral diagnostic tests in respiratory tract infections: moving forward
The objective of this panel was to define the plausible role of aetiologic viral diagnostic into clinical management; make recommendations on the potential expanded use of such tests in the future and define some gaps in the management of RTI. Molecular Infection Viral Diagnostic (mIVD) tests should be used in all adult patients admitted to Hospital with RTI, and in paediatric patients requiring admission or who would be referred to another hospital for more specialised care. The increased use of mIVD will not only reduce the inappropriate use of antibiotics so reducing the antibiotic microbe resistance, but also will impr...

Accuracy of routinely collected hospital administrative discharge data and death certificate ICD-10 diagnostic coding in progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal syndrome: a systematic review and validation study
DiscussionThe high G23.1 PPV in inpatient data shows it is a useful tool for PSP case ascertainment, but death certificate coding is inaccurate. The PPV and sensitivity of existing ICD-10 codes for CBS are poor due to a lack of a specific code. (Source: Journal of Neurology)

Lincosamide monotherapy treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia in tropical Australia: a case series
AbstractExisting recommended first-line antibiotic agents for MRSA pneumonia have several shortcomings. We reviewed 29 cases of community- and hospital-acquired MRSA pneumonia managed at our hospital. Lincosamide monotherapy was administered to 21/29 (72%) and was the predominant antibiotic regimen (>  50% course duration) in 19/29 (66%). Patients receiving lincosamide-predominant monotherapy were no more likely to die or require intensive care unit admission than patients receiving vancomycin-predominant monotherapy (5/19 (26%) versus 4/7 (57%),p = 0.19); 5/7 (71%) patients admitted to ICU and 4/5 (80%) bacteraem...
