Post-therapeutic squamous cell transformation of a metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma with comparison of molecular profiles: a case report and review of the literature
Int J Clin Exp Pathol. 2024 Mar 15;17(3):78-82. doi: 10.62347/ZQCI9925. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTTransformation of primary prostate adenocarcinoma to squamous cell carcinoma after initial treatment with chemotherapy and hormonal therapy is extremely rare and typically results in rapid treatment-refractory disease progression and death. Here, we present a case of a 64-year-old man who was initially diagnosed with metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma (positive PSA and NKX3.1 stains, total PSA 747.2 ng/ml) to the thoracic spine (T8) in 2019. The patient received androgen deprivation therapy and chemotherapy with good response (...

Hormone therapy in women with benign breast disease – What little is known and suggestions for clinical implementation
Benign breast disease encompasses a spectrum of non-malignant conditions within the breast, characterized by variations in both histological features and clinical manifestations. These conditions can be categorized into non-proliferative lesions, proliferative lesions without atypia, and proliferative lesions with atypia, each of which carries differing degrees of risk for future breast cancer development. The increased utilization of screening mammography has notably contributed to the rising detection of these lesions over the years [1]. (Source: Maturitas)

Trans men can achieve adequate muscular development through low ‐dose testosterone therapy: A long‐term study on body composition changes
ConclusionLong-term GAHT for trans men is safe and effective. Low-dose testosterone administration is sufficient to increase LBM in trans men. Higher testosterone doses can lead to an earlier increase in muscle mass. (Source: Andrology)

Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment of Male Hypogonadism
Acta Med Indones. 2024 Jan;56(1):1-2.ABSTRACTHypogonadism is a condition characterized by diminished or absent production of sex hormones by the testicles in men and the ovaries in women. Hypogonadism is classified into primary and secondary hypogonadism. Each type of hypogonadism can be caused by congenital and acquired factors. There are many factors that contribute to the occurrence of hypogonadism, including genetic and developmental disorders, infection, kidney disease, liver disease, autoimmune disorders, chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and trauma. This represents the considerable challenge in diagnosing hypogonadi...

Initial [18F]DCFPyL PET/CT in treatment-na ïve prostate cancer: correlation with post-ADT PSA outcomes and recurrence
CONCLUSION: Our study revealed that pretreatment [18F]DCFPyL uptake in primary or metastatic tumor sites is prognostically relevant in high-risk PCa patients undergoing ADT. Further research is needed to develop robust predictive models in this multifaceted landscape of PCa management.PMID:38563882 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-024-06684-z (Source: Molecular Medicine)
