Cronkhite-Canada syndrome with esophagus involvement and six-year follow-up: A case report
CONCLUSION: Comprehensive treatment led by hormonal therapy can result in partial or full remission of clinical symptoms. Treatment should be individualized for each patient according to their therapy response. Surveillance endoscopy is necessary for assessing mucosal disease activity and detecting malignant transformation.PMID:38516236 | PMC:PMC10950646 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i8.984 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)

Gender affirming peritoneal vaginoplasty: a modified davydov technique
Single-stage penile inversion vaginoplasty requires an adequate amount of penoscrotal tissue to line the neovaginal canal and create external vulvar structures sufficiently. Some patients have an insufficient amount of penoscrotal tissue, especially those who have undergone gender-affirming hormone therapy with puberty blockers. Peritoneal vaginoplasty, also known as peritoneal-pull-through vaginoplasty, is a procedural option for transfeminine patients who desire gender-affirming surgery but may have insufficient genital skin. Metformin and progestins in women with atypical hyperplasia or endometrial cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Combined therapy is effective. Metformin shows superiority to the standard regimen in achieving better CR rate in patients with AEH and benefits pregnancy rates but not recurrence or live birth rates. Therefore, the ideal fertility-sparing treatment for EC has not yet been determined and further clinical trials are needed.PMID:38503850 | DOI:10.1007/s00404-024-07416-2 (Source: Cancer Control)

Omission of adjuvant radiotherapy in low-risk elderly males with breast cancer
CONCLUSION: Among men ≥ 65 years old with T1-2N0 HR + breast cancer, RT alone did not confer an OS benefit over HT alone. Combination of RT + HT demonstrated significant improvements in OS. De-escalation of treatment through omission of either RT or HT at this point should be done with caution.PMID:38507145 | DOI:10.1007/s12282-024-01560-y (Source: Breast Cancer)

Pregnancy, Reproductive Factors, and Female Heart Failure Risk and Outcomes
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe purpose of this review is to provide an overview of recent evidence on female-specific risk factors related to reproductive status or pregnancy.Recent FindingsPregnancy-related factors, including hypertensive disorders and gestational diabetes, increase the risk of heart failure in women, while breastfeeding and hormone therapy may offer protection.SummaryHypertensive disorders of pregnancy, gestational diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, placental abruption, younger maternal age at first live birth, younger maternal age at last live birth, number of stillbirths, number of pregnancies, onset...

Breast cancer derived exosomes: Theragnostic perspectives and implications
Clin Chim Acta. 2024 Mar 15:117875. doi: 10.1016/j.cca.2024.117875. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBreast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy affecting women worldwide. Although conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy, radiation therapy, and biological therapy are commonly used, they often entail significant side effects. Therefore, there is a critical need to investigate more cost-effective and efficient treatment modalities in BC. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies, play a crucial role in modulating recipient cell behaviour and driv...

Long-acting Growth Hormone Therapy, Rational and Future Aspects
J Clin Res Pediatr Endocrinol. 2024 Mar 15. doi: 10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2024.2023-11-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecombinant growth hormone (GH) is administered as daily subcutaneous injections. Daily treatment can be challenging for children/adolescents as well as for parents and/or caregivers (legal representatives, guardians of children in institutional care). Challenges associated with daily treatment may result in missing several doses and non-adherence with treatment leads to inadequate growth response. As an inadequate growth response does not meet criteria for continuing treatment, payers (commercial or public)...

Long-term Outcomes and Patterns of Relapse Following High-dose Elective Salvage Radiotherapy and Hormone Therapy in Oligorecurrent Pelvic Nodes in Prostate Cancer: OLIGOPELVIS (GETUG-P07)
We report 5-yr outcomes from OLIGOPELVIS (GETUG-P07), an open-label phase 2 trial assessing long-term outcomes and patterns of relapse after 6-mo ADT and elective nodal radiotherapy (ENRT) in men with pelvic nodal oligorecurrence (<6 lesions) of prostate cancer. Progression was defined as two consecutive prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels above the level at inclusion and/or clinical progression according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors v1.1 and/or death from any cause. Sixty-seven patients were recruited. Median follow-up was 6.1 yr (95% confidence interval 5.9-6.3). Rates of grade 2+ toxicities amon...
