TAILORx dispels chemo-brain notion: Women on hormone therapy also report cognitive decline
(ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group) Patient-reported data from TAILORx, the largest ever breast cancer treatment trial, shows three key findings: 1) women on chemotherapy plus hormone therapy reported early and abrupt cognitive decline at 3 and 6 months, that leveled off at 12 and 36 months; 2) women on hormone therapy also reported significant cognitive impairment, although the pace of decline was slower and more gradual; and 3) cognitive function did not return to pre-treatment levels in either group.
