Doctor pleads guilty as part of Aegerion drug misbranding probe
A pediatric cardiologist from Georgia has pleaded guilty to divulging information about his patients to Aegerion Pharmaceuticals in 2013, as the Cambridge-based company was looking for ways to boost sales of cholesterol drug Juxtapid by promoting it for off-label uses. I have read Insane Consequences: How the Mental Health Industry Fails the Mentally Ill a couple of times and am still contemplating it. It also inspired me to research further into how we treat the seriously mentally ill in America. Fresenius Medical pays $4m to settle HIPAA violations
Fresenius Medical Care (NYSE:FMS; ETR:FRE) has agreed to pay $3.5 million to the US Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights to settle five breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Privacy and Security Rules.
