Shear-wave elastography to predict hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatitis C virus eradication: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: SWE could be a promising tool for prediction of HCC occurrence in patients treated with DAAs. Further studies with larger cohorts and standardized timing of elastographic evaluation are needed to confirm these data.PMID:38596502 | PMC:PMC11000078 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i10.1450 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology)

Overview of the immunological mechanisms in hepatitis B virus reactivation: Implications for disease progression and management strategies
In conclusion, this comprehensive review furnishes a holistic view of the immunological mechanisms that propel HBV reactivation. With a dedicated focus on understanding its implications for disease progression and the prospects of efficient management strategies, this article contributes significantly to the knowledge base. The more profound insights into the intricate interactions between viral elements and the immune system will inform evidence-based approaches, ultimately enhancing disease management and elevating patient outcomes. The dynamic landscape of management strategies is critically scrutinized, spanning anti-v...

Single extract of Forsythia Suspense versus the prepared drug in pieces: comparison of their anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antibacterial effects in zebrafish
CONCLUSION: The two dosage forms of Forsythia Suspense have similar anti-inflammatory, antitumor and antibacterial effects, but their effects for inhibiting IL-6, P65, and Jnk mRNA expressions and HCT116 cell proliferation differ significantly at low doses in zebrafish.PMID:38597452 | PMC:PMC11006694 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2024.03.22 (Source: Journal of Southern Medical University)

High expression of UBE2S promotes progression of hepatocellular carcinoma by increasing cancer cell stemness
CONCLUSION: UBE2S is highly expressed in T cells in HCC microenvironment in close correlation with a poor prognosis. High UBE2S expression promotes the stemness of HCC cells.PMID:38597436 | PMC:PMC11006698 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2024.03.06 (Source: Journal of Southern Medical University)

Single cell glycan-linkages profiling for hepatocellular carcinoma early diagnosis using lanthanide encoded bacteriophage MS2 based ICP-MS
In this study, we present an innovative approach which contributed to the early diagnosis of HCC. By lanthanide encoding signal amplification to map glycan-linkages at the single-cell level, the minute quantities of "soft" glycan-linkages on single cell surface were converted into "hard" elemental tags through the use of an MS2 signal amplifier. Harnessing the power of lanthanides encoded within MS2, we achieve nearly three orders of magnitude signal amplification. These encoded tags are subsequently quantified using single-cell inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SC-ICP-MS). Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) id...

NETosis in tumour microenvironment of liver: from primary to metastatic hepatic carcinoma
In conclusion, NETosis is important in the TME of liver. NETs have been shown to contribute to the progression and metastasis of liver cancer. The interaction between NETosis and immune cells in the TME, as well as related therapies, are important areas of research.PMID:38599524 | DOI:10.1016/j.arr.2024.102297 (Source: Ageing Research Reviews)
