Leukocytoclastic vasculitis in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis: A case report
Key Clinical MessageAlthough the concurrent occurrence of vasculitis with AS is uncommon, when patients diagnosed with AS exhibit symptoms including skin petechiae, purpura, abdominal discomfort, malaise, elevated ESR, and reduced complement levels, vigilant monitoring for vasculitis is advisable following the exclusion of secondary vasculitis triggers such as malignancies, infections, and pharmaceutical agents.AbstractThe primary characteristic of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) involves inflammation occurring within the sacroiliac joint and the spine, leading to destruction and eventual ankylosis. A notably infrequent compli...

Huanglian Decoction treats Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis by inhibiting NF- κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway and reducing renal IgA deposition
This study aimed to investigate the protective mechanism of HLD treatment in HSPN. The effects of HLD on HSPN biochemical indices, kidney injury and NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway were analyzed by biochemical analysis, ELISA, HE and PAS staining, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and Western Blot. In addition, the effects of HLD on HSPN cells were analyzed. We found that HLD treatment significantly reduced renal tissue damage, decreased the levels of IL-17, IL-18, TNF-α, and IL-1β, and increased the levels of TP and ALB in HSPN mice. It also inhibited the deposition of IgA, IgG, and C3 in kidney tissues and signi...

APDS patients with immune-complex vasculitis and resolution with leniolisib
Clin Immunol. 2024 Mar 8:110176. doi: 10.1016/j.clim.2024.110176. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTActivated phosphoinositide 3-kinase delta syndrome (APDS) is an inborn error of immunity with heterogeneity in the clinical manifestations of immune dysregulation, including recurrent sinopulmonary infections, bronchiectasis, chronic herpesvirus infections, autoimmunity, lymphoproliferation, and malignancy. Immune complexmediated vasculitides have not yet been described in APDS patients. Here we offer a case series of three patients with APDS who have refractory IgA vasculitis (also called Henoch-Schönlein purpura), a form of i...
