Hemorrhage Volume Drives Early Brain Injury and Outcome in Poor-Grade Aneurysmal SAH [NEUROVASCULAR/STROKE IMAGING]
CONCLUSIONS: Global intracranial hemorrhage volume plays a pivotal role in global cerebral edema development and emerged as an independent predictor of both mortality and long-term clinical outcome. Aging emerged as a reducing predictor in the relationship between global intracranial hemorrhage volume and global cerebral edema. (Source: American Journal of Neuroradiology)

The Impact of Enteral Nimodipine on Endothelial Cell Apoptosis in an Animal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Model
ConclusionsThis study suggests that enteral nimodipine may have a neuroprotective function by inhibiting endothelial apoptosis in small arterioles and preventing smooth muscle cell proliferation in large arteries. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Evaluation of Post-thrombolytic Events to Determine Appropriate ICU Monitoring Duration for Patients with Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionsOur study demonstrates that sICH, neurological deterioration, and need for ICU intervention rarely occur beyond 12  h after thrombolytic administration. Patients presenting with blood pressures <  140/90 mm Hg, NIHSS scores <  10, and not undergoing mechanical thrombectomy may be best candidates for early de-escalation. Larger prospective studies are needed to more fully evaluate the safety, feasibility, and financial impact of early transition out of the ICU. (Source: Neurocritical Care)

Rosiglitazone Promotes Microglial Distribution via Activation of PPAR γ and CD36 in the ICH Rat Model
CONCLUSION: Rosiglitazone may improve microglial distribution via promoting the expression of PPARγ and CD36 around the hematoma in the ICH rat model, which may provide effective therapeutic targets for the treatment of ICH.PMID:38583188 (Source: Neuroendocrinology Letters)

Keeping prior anticoagulation treatment in the acute phase of ischaemic stroke: the REKOALA study
ConclusionContinuation of anticoagulation in patients with acute ischaemic stroke and cardioembolic source did not increase the risk of intracranial haemorrhage and may be associated with better functional outcomes. (Source: Journal of Neurology)
