Mediterranean diet for cardiovascular disease: an evidence mapping study
CONCLUSION: This study indicates that although recognizing the potential efficacy of MD in managing CVD, the quality of the methodology and the evidence for the outcome indicators remain unsatisfactory. To establish the true benefits of MD for CVD patients, future research should not only adhere to rigorous methodological requirements but also prioritize enhancing the quality of primary studies and conducting patient-centered meta-analyses.PMID:38600858 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000776 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Do patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus included in randomised clinical trials differ from general-practice patients? A cross-sectional comparative study
Conclusions Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus cared for in general practice differ in a number of important aspects from patients included in randomised controlled trials on which clinical practice guidelines are based. This situation hampers the applicability of these guidelines. Future randomised trials should include patients who better fit the ‘average’ general-practice patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus to help improve the translation of study findings in daily practice. Current status of emergency medical service use in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction in China: Findings from China Acute Myocardial Infarction (CAMI) Registry
The mortality rate of myocardial infarction in China has increased dramatically in the past three decades. Although emergency medical service (EMS) played a pivotal role for the management of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the corresponding data in China are limited. Circulating soluble fibroblast activation protein (FAP) levels are independent of cardiac and extra-cardiac FAP expression determined by targeted molecular imaging in patients with myocardial FAP activation
This study characterizes the release of FAP in human cardiac fibroblasts (CF) and analyzes the association of circulating FAP concentrations with in vivo tissue FAP expression in patients with acute (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, STEMI) and chronic (severe aortic stenosis, AS) myocardial FAP expression. CONCLUSION: The extent of infarct mass, peak radial diastolic strain rate, and RAAS inhibitor are independent predictors of adverse LV remodeling following STEMI.PMID:38597447 | PMC:PMC11006702 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2024.03.17 (Source: Journal of Southern Medical University)

Prognostic Implications of N-Terminal Pro-B-Type Natriuretic Peptide in Patients With Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with NSTEMI who underwent PCI, an initial elevated NT-proBNP concentration was associated with higher risk of MACE at 3 years, driven primarily by higher risks of cardiac death or admission for heart failure. These results suggest that the initial NT-proBNP concentration may have a clinically significant prognostic value in NSTEMI patients undergoing PCI.PMID:38599833 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-24-0129 (Source: Circulation Journal)
