Retinal Ischemic Perivascular Lesions are associated with myocardial infarction in patients with coronary artery disease.
Retinal ischemic perivascular lesions (RIPLs) are anatomical biomarkers of retinal ischemia. They are defined on spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) by an area of focal retinal thinning in the middle retina or inner nuclear layer.1 RIPLs are a legacy of paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) due to INL infarction and were previously referred to as resolved or chronic PAMM lesions until Long et al proposed the better term “RIPL”.1–3 (Source: American Journal of Ophthalmology)

IL6/adiponectin/HMGB1 feedback loop mediates adipocyte and macrophage crosstalk and M2 polarization after myocardial infarction
ConclusionThe IL6/ADPN/HMGB1 loop between adipocytes and macrophages in the border zone contributes to different clinical outcomes post-infarction. Thus, targeting the IL6/ADPN/HMGB1 loop may be a novel therapeutic approach for cardiac lymphatic regulation and reduction of cell senescence post-infarction. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)

The Value of Combined Detection of Serum BNP, Cardiac Troponin-I and Dynamic Electrocardiogram in Early Clinical Diagnosis and Prognosis of Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
CONCLUSIONS: The combined assessment of serum BNP, cTnI, and dynamic electrocardiogram enhances the early clinical diagnostic potential for AMI and holds value in assessing the prognosis of AMI patients.PMID:38531800 | DOI:10.24976/Discov.Med.202436182.56 (Source: Discovery Medicine)

Macrophages suppress cardiac reprogramming of fibroblasts in vivo via IFN-mediated intercellular self-stimulating circuit
Protein Cell. 2024 Mar 26:pwae013. doi: 10.1093/procel/pwae013. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDirect conversion of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) to cardiomyocytes (CMs) in vivo to regenerate heart tissue is an attractive approach. After myocardial infarction (MI), heart repair proceeds with an inflammation stage initiated by monocytes infiltration of the infarct zone establishing an immune microenvironment. However, whether and how the MI microenvironment influences the reprogramming of CFs remains unclear. Here, we found that in comparison with cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) cultured in vitro, CFs that transplanted into infarct re...

Fibrinogen to HDL-Cholesterol ratio as a predictor of mortality risk in patients with acute myocardial infarction
CONCLUSION: AMI patients with increased baseline FHR values had higher all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, regardless of established CVD risk factors. The Role of Nano-systems in the Delivery of Glucose-lowering Drugs for the Pre-emption and Treatment of Diabetes-associated Atherosclerosis
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2024 Mar 25. doi: 10.1152/ajpcell.00695.2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide. In recent decades, type-2 diabetes has become increasingly common, particularly in younger individuals. Diabetes leads to many vascular complications, including atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a cardiovascular disease characterized by lipid-rich plaques within the vasculature. Plaques develop over time, restricting blood flow; and can therefore be the underlying cause of major adverse cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction and stroke. Diabetes a...
