Feminine-presenting interviewee wearing a tie?
This is my first time posting, but I have an upcoming interview and would like to get opinions on my interview attire. First off, let me say the med school at which I’m interviewing is LGBTQ friendly, asking applicants their gender identities and preferred pronouns. On my application, in addition to acknowledging that I’m gay and talking about my interest in LGBTQ health, I put my gender as gender-fluid, which is as it sounds, I don’t nicely fit into one specific gender identity, but rather... Post-bacc Program Chances with low sGPA due to one math course?
Hi! I'm a student studying Anthropology and Public Health. I initially thought that I wanted to get a PhD in Epidemiology but through my public health outreach and research I have become increasingly interested in medicine. I have genetics research experience, hospital volunteering, community health volunteering, and homeless shelter volunteering experience. I am also president of my school's Public Health Club. I have a pretty high overall GPA (3.65). However, early in my career I... Post-bacc Program Chances with low sGPA due to one math course? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to FAFSA a disabled parent for HPS loan?
Hi!! I'm a prepharm student who has an early decision application out for pharmacy school, and so I began looking into financial aid to pay for this costly beast of a degree. I found info on the Health Professional Student Loan, and I'd like to have that reserved for sort of an emergency back up, but it requires parent information on the FAFSA. My mother does not work and my father is on federal disability. I went back to school at 25, so I've never filled out their info on the FAFSA... How to FAFSA a disabled parent for HPS loan? Can you get the PhD in anything?
I know that the MD/PhD programs out there are usually for like academic medicine/teaching, and that the two sort of go hand in hand. But can you do like an MD/PhD with the PhD like on global health/development/something policy or similar in nature still in that 7 year track? Or the PhD usually reserved for still more of the hardcore science. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What do you think the hardest part of being a doctor will be?
Was at a gathering for the SVA yesterday and I made a remark about how it was too bad we couldn't offer some healthy alternatives to the garbage we were serving up to our guests (cake, ice cream and soda) and you would have thought I just said that we faked the moon landings by the reactions everyone had. So in a word, apathy will be the hardest thing for me. The idea that some people don't care about their health at all is mind boggling to me. I understand ignorance, because that...
