Colorado vs UCSD
University of Colorado Pros New (2 years new, so not complete guinea pigs) LIC model is intriguing and have heard really good feedback from students and docs Only one year pre-clinical Step 1 and 2 after 1st clinical year I am from CO and all my US based support system is here (would stay living with long-term partner without question on moving) Lots of research that I am specifically interested in Cons not true p/f, still has AOA not ranked quite as... Should I take COMLEX 1 while it is still scored?
Currently scheduled to take COMLEX 1 May 20th, but the last day to take it scored is May 9th. My NBME'S have been 200->200->223->215. Just took COMSAE 1 and got a 596. I'm taking Step 1 on May 16th. Would a Pass on Step 1 and a high COMLEX score look better than just a P for both? I can change things up quickly or leave it the way that it is. Being a guinea pig class is not fun. Thank you!! PI asked me if I want to do anything with the data, and I don't really understand what that means?
I am an undergrad in a behavioral neuroscience lab and I am heading a research project with another student. The data concerns guinea pig behavior and today my PI asked me today "will you be doing anything with the data?" and that kinda scared the **** out of me because it's like aren't we already doing something with this data?? Like this project that we're working on already exists? I was also asked this question in a completely separate situation by the grad student who is my direct... I have a great oppurtunity in my research lab-- hate a lot about it.
To keep it short, I am in a behavioral neuroscience rodent lab. I am an outside volunteer and this is the only research that I really have access to that's not self-constructed qualitative stuff. The assigned task is to travel to a university on the east coast and learn a rodent surgery to bring back to my lab. I thought the opportunity sounded great and I was positive but did not entirely agree. The surgery has to do with harvesting guinea pig brains. Watching examples of the surgery on... Neurology residency chances
OMS IV Applying as the guinea pig in the merger class. Stats GPA > 3.6 at minimum puts me within the top half of the class. LORs: strong letters for core rotation preceptors that I worked one on one with. Comlex: 500-550, expect to be over 550 with comlex 2. No usmle and I am not taking it. I know it’s risky but it’s too late in the game and I’ll apply/go to the end of the earth if I have to. Rotations: honored every rotation except geriatrics, go figure. Extracurricular... Usmle
During our last class meeting there was discussion about implementation of USMLE as the board exam for pods and I think western is the guinea pig for testing this year. Is this true? Just seeing if any western students could chime in. Good luck if this is the case. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Stony Brook vs. Drexel
I have recently been accepted to Stony Brook and Drexel. I'm extremely excited to get both acceptances but both of them were going through curriculum changes and I'm not sure how much of a guinea pig I want to be. Here's a summary of their changes: Drexel: They just changed from Traditional to Systems-based. Also, they got rid of in-class lectures entirely and instead have 30 min online videos with group sessions. Their rationale is it'll free up time for students and better...
