A new mutation c.685G>A:p.E229K in the KCNJ11 gene: A case report of maturity-onset diabetes of the young13
Conclusions: The diagnosis of MODY13 requires genetic testing. After confirmation, medication and diet need to be adjusted to control blood glucose. The treatment plan was adjusted. After glimepiride was administered, symptoms of diabetes were effectively improved. According to our knowledge, this is the first reported mutation of c.685G>A:p.E229K in the KCNJ11 gene. Effect of canagliflozin on white blood cell counts in patients with type  2 diabetes and heart failure: A subanalysis of the randomized CANDLE trial
ConclusionsOur findings suggest that 24  weeks of treatment with canagliflozin, relative to glimepiride, reduced WBC counts in patients with type 2 diabetes and heart failure. (Source: Journal of Diabetes Investigation)

Design and Evaluation of Glimepiride Hydrogel for Transdermal Delivery
Drug Dev Ind Pharm. 2022 Sep 1:1-25. doi: 10.1080/03639045.2022.2120493. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe solubility of glimepiride (GM) was improved from 1.6 μg/mL to 22.0 mg/mL when GM and meglumine (MU) complexes were prepared. Therefore, transdermal hydrogels of GM Carbopol (GM-CP) and GM hydroxypropyl methylcellulose pullulan (GM-HPMC-Pu) were prepared successfully utilizing the improved drug solubility by GM-MU. Based on single factor experiment and response surface methodology, two kinds of hydrogel formulations were optimized by drug release studies in vitro. The optimized GM-CP hydrogel was composed of GM, the m...

The Effects of 6 Common Antidiabetic Drugs on Anti-PD1 Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor in Tumor Treatment
J Immunol Res. 2022 Aug 18;2022:2651790. doi: 10.1155/2022/2651790. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTDiabetes and cancer are common diseases and are frequently diagnosed in the same individual. These patients need to take antidiabetic drugs while receiving antitumor drugs therapy. Recently, immunotherapy offers significant advances for cancer treatment. However, it is unclear whether antidiabetic drugs affect immunotherapy. Here, by employing syngeneic mouse colon cancer model and melanoma model, we studied the effects of 6 common antidiabetic drugs on anti-PD1 immune checkpoint inhibitor in tumor treatment, including acarbose, si...

The efficacy of canagliflozin in diabetes subgroups stratified by data-driven clustering or a supervised machine learning method: a post hoc analysis of canagliflozin clinical trial data
Conclusions/interpretationData-driven clusters of individuals with diabetes showed different responses to canagliflozin in glucose lowering but not renal outcome prevention. Canagliflozin reduced the risk of albumin progression in high-risk individuals identified by supervised machine learning. Further studies with larger sample sizes for external replication and subtype-specific clinical trials are necessary to determine the clinical utility of these stratification strategies in sodium –glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor treatment.Data availabilityThe application for the clinical trial data source is available on the YOD...
