German Dr. med. programs?
Hello everyone! This is my first post and it's a bit niche, but does anyone know of English-language Dr. med. programs in Germany? I am a physician in the EU with research interests but not to the the extent of wanting to do a full PhD over three or four years. The German master's level research doctorate in medicine sounds perfect for me. Most (all?) German medical schools will have a Dr. med. program, but not all of them are conducted in English, and simply searching Google gets me... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ASU Online for DIY post-bacc
Hi everyone. First time poster. I'm just starting my medical school journey at 36. There are many reasons, and many challenges I need to overcome (low GPA), but I want to focus this post on where to take prereqs. Because of my job, I'm required to bounce around between Texas and Germany. Therefore, there's no opportunity to take in-person classes. Arizona State University has a huge online program that offers almost every major, and they have every premed prerequisite that I'll need. The... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Death aboard an airplane
Man dies mid-flight after breaking out in 'cold sweats' and losing 'liters of blood,' scaring his fellow passengers A witness told Blick, a German-Swiss news outlet, that "it was absolute horror" and "everyone was screaming" on board the Lufthansa flight. www.businessinsider.com Sounds like a decompensated cirrhotic with a massive UGIB. The article made it seem like the doctor on board was useless. Not sure what there is to do in this situation.. not like the airplane have a blood bank or carry the tools of a...

What was the best decision of your career and life?
Stealing from the psychiatry forum. Career: doing 5 years of supervised training under a neuropsychologist, which prepared me to incorporate some assessment in my practice. Life: Doing an exchange year in Germany as an undergrad. I met my husband and had my first child there. I lived there for four years before moving home. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ABR Alternate Pathway discussion ?
Hi, I graduated medical school from Turkey, and finished my Diagnostic Radiology training in Germany. I am a board certified Radiologist in Germany. US is a big dream for me since my childhood, and it's seems that attending lifestyle in the US beats all the others. I found that an IMG who is certified DR in his homecountry can be board eligible if he finishes 4 year ACGME accreditated fellowship. So in theory, if I work as a fellow for 4 consecutive year in a ACGME accreditated program... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Frustration and lack of supervision
This thread is basically just to vent. I feel lost and frustrated with my current PGY2 rotation. For context: I'm an IMG (Non-EU, non-native german speaker) psych resident in Germany. Currently on my 5th month of a 6th month rotation at an addictions ward. We are 3 residents for aprox. 37 patients. There is no hierarchy among residents. A PGY1 has the same responsabilities and ammount of patients than a PGY5+. My other 2 co-residents are 5th year Neurology residents with experience in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

KCU-KC vs PCOM-PA vs Middletown Touro vs KYCOM post covid era
Thanks in advance. I went through a lot of prior posts and saw how many schools such as Middletown have improved over these past years such as only mandatory lectures for the classes with clickers and its super supportive and tight-knit class. I have three questions. The first is does the connections/prestige for rotations/residencies that KCU and PCOM have far outweigh the pros for Middletown Touro? My parents live 1.5 hrs away from Middletown and 3+ hrs for PA. I have an old german... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Probability of Pathology Residency Matching with less clinical experience
Hi there! I have a question regarding the chances of getting into a Pathology residency as a foreign medical graduate. I am 36 years old and work as a medical advisor at a digital health company in Germany. I have less than a year of clinical experience some 7 years back. Hypothetically speaking, if I was to attain high scores in the USMLE steps, would I stand a chance to match to a path speciality training? I'd be very grateful for your answers! Thanks! Medical Affairs Contract-Advice
Hey all, So I had a recruiter reach out to me about a contract in medical affairs. The company is a large, stable German company that supports many products. I decided to do the interview because I’d eventually like to move into this space. I got my red flag during the interview. It seems the contract is to fill in for someone who is undergoing medical care. For now the contract is 6 months with possible extension to a year. Based on the reason for the contract, I don’t expect to get... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
