Mini Rev Med Chem. 2023 Jan 12. doi: 10.2174/1389557523666230112110317. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCorilagin is a naturally occurring water-soluble retrogallic acid tannin, which can be extracted from many kinds of plants. Known at present, it is the main effective ingredient of Phyllanthus urinaria L., Geranium wilfordii Maxim., Phyllanthus matsumurae Hayata, and Trifolium repens L. It also exists in Phyllanthus emblica L., Dimocarpus longan Lour., Canarium album (Lour.) Raeusch., and Terminalia chebula Retz. It can participate in a variety of signaling pathways in vivo and has multiple biological activities, including...

Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Geraniol Isolated from Lemon Grass on Ox-LDL-Stimulated Endothelial Cells by Upregulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 via PI3K/Akt and Nrf-2 Signaling Pathways
This study aimed to investigate the impact of geraniol on Ox-LDL-induced stress and inflammation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells. In this study, HUVECs were treated with Ox-LDL or geraniol at different dose concentrations. MTT assay, Western blot, ROS generation and DNA fragmentation were used to evaluate geraniol's effects on Ox-LDL-induced HUVECs inflammation. The results show that geraniol pre-incubation ameliorates Ox-LDL-mediated HUVECs cytotoxicity and DNA fragmentation. The geraniol inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by Ox-LDL, including TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β. In Ox-LDL-stimulated HUV...

Viruses, Vol. 14, Pages 2511: Weed Hosts Represent an Important Reservoir of Turnip Yellows Virus and a Possible Source of Virus Introduction into Oilseed Rape Crop
umar Kundu Turnip yellows virus (TuYV) is one of the most important pathogens of oilseed rape worldwide. The virus has a large host range including many crop species (e.g., oilseed rape, pea, chickpea) and weeds from more than twenty plant families. Other than oilseed rape, we detected TuYV in many commonly grown weed species that share the fields and vegetation period together with canola crops in Czech and Slovak Republics. TuYV was detected by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in at least 26 species including main crop hosts (oilseed rape), intercrops and weeds such as Amaranthus retroflexus, ...

Mating Systems and Seed Reproduction in Gynodioecious Geranium asiaticum (Geraniaceae)
Dokl Biol Sci. 2022 Oct;506(1):179-183. doi: 10.1134/S0012496622050039. Epub 2022 Oct 27.ABSTRACTMating systems and seed reproduction in gynodioecious Geranium asiaticum Serg. (G. bifolium Patrin.) were studied in four coenopopulations of Western Siberia (Novosibirsk region). The bisexual flower of hermaphrodite individuals of G. asiaticum is characterized by a longer flowering (2.5-3.5 days) than the pistillate flower of female individuals (2-2.5 days), due to the passage of the male (staminate) phase at the beginning of morphogenesis: G. asiaticum is characterized by strict protandry. Mating of individuals of G. asiaticu...
