Advice on advanced year
If many of the community private practice jobs I’ve been interested in have stated that they want someone to do general GI with ERCP, is it still worth doing a 4th year just for that ERCP experience? I’ve asked something similar in the past but I really want to hear from someone with personal experience. I’m really on the fence about applying this year. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Med Mal: Gastric Bypass Patient in the ED
Case 9: Abdominal Pain – medmalreviewer
Patient comes into the ED a few days after gastric bypass surgery.
Full workup in the ED, surgeon is consulted via phone, discharged home.
Bounces back a few hours later. HR 140s. No repeat labs or CT, no repeat consultation. Discharge home.

I ask because I read this
"Only 11% of operations on children are carried out by paediatric surgeons. The remainder are performed by other specialist surgeons, some of whom specialise in paediatric cases. These include general, orthopaedic, plastic, oral and ophthalmic surgery as well as ENT and urology. Specialist adult surgeons may work in partnership with paediatric surgeons to treat uncommon childhood disorders such as thyroid and certain gastrointestinal conditions."
