Nationwide Audit of Postoperative Mortality and Complications After Digestive Cancer Surgery: Will New Legal Thresholds be Sufficient?
CONCLUSION: Based on retrospective data, thresholds higher than those promulgated would better improve the safety of high-risk DCS. New policies aiming to further centralize high-risk DCS should be considered, associated with a clear clinical pathway of care for patients to improve accessibility to complex health care in France.PMID:38485867 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15086-2 (Source: Ann Oncol)

High proportion of post-migration HIV acquisition in migrant men who have sex with men receiving HIV care in the Paris region, and associations with social disadvantage and sexual behaviours: results of the ANRS-MIE GANYMEDE study, France, 2021 to 2022
ConclusionOur findings may guide HIV prevention policies for most vulnerable migrants to Europe.PMID:38487889 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2024.29.11.2300445 (Source: Euro Surveill)

Regional dissemination of NDM-1 producing < em > Enterobacter hormaechei < /em > ST1740, with a subset of strains co-producing VIM-4 or IMP-13, France, 2019 to 2022
ConclusionThis long-term outbreak was caused by a chromosome-encoded NDM-1-producing ST1740 E. hormaechei subsp. hoffmannii clone, which, during its dissemination, acquired plasmids encoding VIM-4 or IMP-13 metallo-β-lactamases. To our knowledge, IMP-13 has not prior been reported in Enterobacterales in France. Epidemiological and environmental investigations should be considered alongside microbiological and molecular ones.PMID:38487887 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2024.29.11.2300521 (Source: Euro Surveill)

Depressive symptomatology from a network perspective: Differences in the experience of symptoms involved in the self-recognition of depression and the diagnosis process by social position
CONCLUSIONS: Findings highlight four depressive symptoms, likely to play a key role in the experience of depression across all social positions. Other insights from specific symptoms could be used for improving depression care among disadvantaged populations.PMID:38488236 | DOI:10.1177/00207640241237714 (Source: The International Journal of Social Psychiatry)

The Disease Burden of Hereditary Angioedema: Insights from a Survey in French-Canadians from Quebec
CONCLUSION: HAE manifests in this patient population as frequent moderate-to-severe attacks and a high disease burden; the HAE subtype may differentially affect care requirements. There is an urgent need for increased awareness and education on HAE among treating physicians.PMID:38487730 | PMC:PMC10940028 | DOI:10.1155/2024/3028617 (Source: Journal of Immunology Research)

Do boys have the same intentions to get the HPV vaccine as girls? Knowledge, attitudes, and intentions in France
CONCLUSIONS: These findings reveal a high percentage of boys who do not feel concerned by the HPV vaccine and highlight the need to consider the psychological antecedents of vaccination in general in addition to the specific attitudes to the HPV vaccine.PMID:38490822 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2024.02.080 (Source: Vaccine)

The real incidence of sudden death: Fair estimations or futile speculations?
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of sudden death ranges from 6500 to 27,000 in France according to the calculation methods. This huge difference raises the question of the true current incidence of sudden death, which may have been overestimated previously or may be underestimated in France. More straight prospective surveys are needed to solve this question, because of relevant implications for priorities that should be given to sudden death.PMID:38490843 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2024.01.003 (Source: Archives of Cardiovascular Diseases)
