BMAT without science A-Levels
Hi guys, Just to give you a bit of background, I am on a gap year having finished my A Levels in arts and humanities subjects, so I have decided to do an A2M course this Sep and apply to the normal 5 year courses. I have emailed around all the unis to check and clarify things, but one I am really keen on is BSMS. They've been fantastic at getting back to me, I love the city and of course cadaver dissection is a bit of a bonus. They have recently made the BMAT a requirement, which means I will be expected, from an arts background, to sit the BMAT. I wanted to see if any fellow applicants or medics have any advice as t...

Am I unlikely to get an interview with these scores?
Hi there, I have read the scoring of applications for GEM applicants for 2014. I am worried there is no point for me to apply or even sit the UKCAT because of my poor scores: I got 10 GCSE's, 5 Bs and 5 Cs (English Lit&Lang and Maths = B, Science =CC). This gives me a score of 0 for section 1.1. For my A Levels I did all arts subjects and scored ABB, which gives me a score of 3 for section 1.2.0. For my degree I did a BSc in Psychology and got a 2.1. I don't know if they count this subject as a science or not. I also have an MSc in Health Psychology but it doesn't seem to take this into account anywhere. I would th...

Honest chances
Hello everyone, I'm sure there are hundreds of posts like this, but I'd really appreciate some insight from others. I'm a 25 year old graduate with a 2.1 law degree from Edinburgh. I have AAB at A-level with no sciences and 2A*,7A,B,C at GCSE. All my sciences were single award A's and A*'s. A law degree is fantastic for human reasoning, ethics and decision making too. I've been working in brewing for 3 years, which utilises a lot of biology and chemistry so I've been actively pursuing a career in science since graduation. However I'm finding it a bit stagnated and I need something more mentally stimulating, and I've be...

When Would I Apply To Medical Schools?

My questions is this, starting this september, it means we have only been on this course for a month before medical school application deadlines on UCAS. What would I have to go on off in my application? What grades do the medical schools see in order to consider me, what will they get? Official ACER GAMSAT practice questions for sale
Acer gamsat prep material - (ACER write the gamsat questions) I passed the gamsat and got in to study medicine (horray!)- so I no longer need these books. Therefore, I am selling them on... I have the blue, red and green ones (sample questions, practice questions, practice test) The green and red ones are in very good condition The blue one I spilt a glass of water over so it's very wavy/rumpled - however, all the questions and answers are still readable These cost a lot new (I bought them from Acer) but I don't need them anymore so it seems pointless to hang onto them. Is an Access to medicine course wise if you have poor a levels
Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me. Currently I am a qualified staff nurse looking into getting into medicine. I have always wanted to do medicine but due to immaturity I achieved poor grades at a levels (psychology -D, maths -E, chemistry - U) and as such I could not get in. I have a degree in nursing which I obtained a 2.1 in. I understand some universities such as Warwick do not look at A levels or G.C.S.E's however they are highly competitive to get into. Would it be wise to do an access to medicine course to boost my changes of getting into medicine? I thought I could settle for being a nurse but when I loo...

What counts as a strong answer at interview for a nursing candidate?
Hi there, final year nursing student here set to graduate in February 2015. One thing that has been bothering is the interview stage I'm sure to get the "why doctor and not nurse?" question.
