Course syllabus for SGUL MBBS (Graduate entry)
Hi all :) I was wondering if anyone had a full copy of the graduate entry MBBS syllabus I could have a look at please. I have a young child and want to apply for the course once he is in school (in about 2 years time). I am fortunate enough to have family who are happy to look after him when I need any time of day, which other threads say will be invaluable! Even if the syllabus changes, I am hoping that having a good look through will help me prepare ahead, build up a reading list over the next few years, plus I want to be a bit nosey! Thank you to anyone who can help! Nur (Source: New Media Medicine)

Entry routes to Dentistry
Hi everyone. I hope you're all well. So, here's my situation. I am currently 21 years old. These are my grades: GCSEs (2010): 1A, 5Bs, 2Cs, 2Ds A-Levels (2013): CEE (Business studies, Biology, Chemistry) I know my grades are bad. I blame this on very poor work ethic/family issues. I've been working for the last two years as well as pursuing an AAT Level 2 course via long distance. I have almost finished the course, and although I find it interesting, I've now realised I won't be satisfied if I don't complete my "life's task": what I am meant to accomplish. To become a dentist. I've contacted universities in ...

Research opportunities? Shadowing?
Hi all, I am 28 and will be applying next year as a mature / graduate entry. In the meantime I'm trying to get a part time research assistant volunteer position in some sort of surgical subspecialty. I am familliar with the US medical training system, and over there this would be pretty easy. There are loads of incredibly busy residents who are expected to conduct research in addition to clinical responsibilities and they are more than happy to recruit pre-meds / med students to help them with some data entry and let them shadow them / observe surgeries in return. Is this sort of thing possible in the UK? It seems t...

Advice for study prior to Therapeutic Radiography
I am currently in the army and hoping to serve another 4 years before applying to Queen Margeret University to study Therapeutic Radiography. However I dont know if I have any chance of getting in. I got good grades for my standard grades and stayed at school for my highers but then got bored of school and didnt really bother with the exams so I only have the units which leaves me with very little UCAS points. I have a few NVQ Level 2's in irrelevant subjects (search and munition disposal being one) so am looking for advice on what is best to do over the next 4 years to help me with the application. I am looking to apply ...

Too old for surgical training?
Hey guys so I'm 29 and will look to be on the Foundation programme at 33. I think surgery is for me but I'm not sure if it's a young man's game as it were. Does anyone know of any older guys doing surgical training? Cheers (Source: New Media Medicine)

Kings not accepting any other degree unless its in a science subject from 2016 :(
I'm not sure if this thread goes here, but Kings aren't accepting students with an arts degree anymore for their GEP course :( It says on there website that from 2016 you will need to have had your previous degree in a science subject. It's getting really competitive out there. Just wondering if anybody else knows about this? And if yes what are your plans? (Source: New Media Medicine)

Funding worries!
Hi I've had a quick look through old posts so hopefully I'm not asking repeat questions! I'm currently studying to be a nurse, I already have a masters degree in music but I've had a change of heart! I've found I really excel at the anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, microbiology and pathology modules I've done and have decided I want to further my learning and study medicine once I qualify. My aim is to work bank shifts as a nurse to fund my way through medical school. I won't have the support of a partner or family financially. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea if this is doable? Will I still get the same funding a...
