GAMSAT registration and UCAS application number
Hi, I'm trying to sign up for the GAMSAT and it's asking for my UCAS application number. The only number I have is my personal ID, is this the number they want? I ask because from what I remember of UCAS, if you've applied before they give you a new number. When you send off your application and able to login through track, they then give you the number which you had when you previously applied through UCAS (years before). How do I make sure I enter the right number and the GAMSAT universities are sent the information about my score automatically? (Source: New Media Medicine)

Conditional offers - 1st or Upper Second?
Hi everyone! I am currently predicted to graduate with a First which I was a little surprised about as I had a really rocky start to my degree but somehow managed to pick things up in my second year. Am I right to assume that most universities only give conditional offers of upper second to graduates going on the standard A100 course and not Firsts? Do you know of any other exceptions aside from Sheffield? I'll try to avoid them as I don't think I can come out with a first class degree despite what my tutors think! Thank you :) (Source: New Media Medicine)

Thoughts on the UKCAT so far? Anyone have any tips?
Hi Guys! Well let me just start by saying my head is officially like a swimming pool after all the work I have done today. I have been practicing and becoming familiar with the UKCAT for the past 2 months or so. I have done absolutely dire in the mocks thus far!! I have paid for medify testing and have yet to sit the easy, medium and hard test as I have been sitting the UKCAT testing. I don't know what is wrong with me. I panic and I hate the timing. Has anyone actually sat the UKCAT yet and found it not as hard as the mocks and practice questions? I am a post graduate and I just feel like I am not going to pass!! Im de...

Fy2 lat
Hello, I was wondering how easy it is to change deanery after FY1? I know there are special criteria for inter-deanery transfer but if these are not met my understanding is that you would need to apply for an FY2 locum appointment for training position. I have been told that these are reasonably easy to obtain if you are a UK graduate, but does anybody have any experience of this or know realistically how competitive these are? Thanks (Source: New Media Medicine)

Acer Papers Query
Hi all, I'm in the middle of my GAMSAT revision and have a query I haven't really been able to find an answer to and I'm hoping someone on here may know. I've been given the old paper copies of the Acer practice papers (Sample questions, Practice Questions and the Practice paper), now going onto the Acer site it looks like the sample and practice questions are still the same but there is now a Practice Paper 1 & 2. Does anyone know how much these papers vary from the print editions? Is Practice Paper 2 a completely new paper and I can just buy that? Or have 1 & 2 been reworked and I need to get both of them? speeding up answering (especially QR)
Hi everyone, I've been preparing for the UKCAT. I sat the Gamsat in March and scored 60, which I was fairly happy with, and assumed the UKCAT would be a cakewalk after. Well actually having used medify for the last month I'm now no longer so sure of that, and it seems like a more important exam to have a high score for. I've just sat the 'easy' medify mock exam, and my major weakness was in the QR section. I'm having a lot of trouble with timing, and I only managed to answer half the questions. If I had all the time in the world I'm sure I could get most of them right, however a lot of the questions require you to make lo...

UKCAT 2013: What are the Approximate Standards of Real Test Questions??
Hi, everyone. I know there have been a few threads about UKCAT and now I'm starting another. I really need to know, is the QR in the actual UKCAT this year as difficult as that in the Practice Tests on the official website? Because if it's that tough, I'm kind of screwed. My worst section will change from VR to QR, and I heard that VR has many of those time-consuming, longer questions requiring you to draw conclusions from the passage apart from the normal "True/False/Can't Tell" ones. Do those questions like cover more than half of the VR as in the Practice Tests? I've been practicing but there are confusions o...

Local Tutor Required
Hi all... Determined to go to Swansea to study medicine (no where else!) Not expecting to pass GAMSAT first time round because I have no science background and if, or when, Swansea get tired of my applications and give me a place I suspect I may need extra support to help me through it and get me up to speed. With that in mind I am looking for someone currently on the course, or graduated, to provide some tuition (for a price) and guidance to get me through the GAMSAT and once that hurdle is clear to help prepare me for the challenges ahead. The Demise of the Mature Med Student
Not sure what others think, but having returned to this forum after a four year absence and having gone through 90% of med school, I'm beginning to think that the mature medical student was a Naughties phenomenon. Consider: - Postings on this subforum slowing to a dribble - Med students with kids subforum disapprearing - Med schools tightening up entry requirements to stop the "second chancers" getting in (My UK med school (Sheffield) was BBC to get in when I applied... and that included General Studies - straight As or a first now). - 9 k a year tuition on top of prior costs - Austerity and all that Even the ...

Career blues
I have recently finished medical school and am due to start work as an F1 in August. For the past few months I have been really dreading starting work. I have got to the point where I very much regret ever choosing medicine as a career and feel sure that if I could go back to school and choose again I would do differently. I am hoping that once I begin work this will change. However, does anybody know realistically what career options are available if I left medicine after F1? I am not keen to leave medicine entirely and begin a graduate job in a different field but would many more years of clinical experience be needed to...

Hi I'm a med student whose recently got a health condition in which its advisable to not work nights. Obviously I'll be choosing a non-intense specialty. Steadily losing hope
Hi! finally signed up after months of creeping haha. I have a slight dilemma. I'm currently a second year adult nursing student, hoping to apply for 2016 entry (yes, a long way away!) But after going through the requirements for a lot of medical schools I feel disheartened. My Gcse's were woeful because I was a petulant teen, who couldn't be bothered. I hope to graduate with at least a 2.i classification but now i'm wondering if that is enough. Are there any recent nursing graduates who have gone into the medical program and if so what extras did you do? I will be be 27 by the time I hope to apply. (Source: New Media Medicine)
